06 MAR 1868 Directory, Elmira, Horseheads, Chemung Valley
This includes just the first 100 pages so far. I will scan the remainder SOMEDAY and get it on site. BUT this is intense, dense Chemung County early history including the complete text of the Reminiscences of Forty Years Ago (1828) that we published last fall from newspapers with sections missing. This is a MUST READ. Take off your name chasing blinders and have a VERY GOOD read.

MAR 19 Ca 1879 - Lines composed on the Death of Lois Potter by Sarah Frost of Covington
We Know who Sarah Frost was. Who can identify Lois Potter for us? Let Joyce Know.
Some Civil War Soldiers who are part of or related to people who are part of the Walker - Frost Letters I have been publishing here for several years. Am adding more today in the 1870s era (See 1870 page for the new letters). This is a major work and has generated very little interest in our readership. Very sad as these are of great cultural value.

The neighbors cows got out on my lawn this morning and this is what happened. Tell me I did not do this again!! Anyway, they came to get their cows back and the neighbor suggested she bring over the puppies just for a visit this afternoon. She brought five puppies and their grandmother and took back three puppies and the grandmother. Now we have to have another name the boys contest like we did four years ago when Barnum and Bailey joined us. Mama is a Westeez poodle [not sure what that means] and papa is a chihuaha (sp?) They won't get as big as the cats. Born February 2. Big one weighs 2 pounds, little one weighs 1 and 5/8 pound.
