Newspaper Article: J. W. Palmatier, accident victim, dies at hospital: James W. Palmatier, of Morris RD1 who was struck by an automobile on May 21, West Fourth Street and Daugherty's Run Road, died at 7:30 am Thursday the 29th at the Williamsport hospital. Mr. Palmatier became the fourth fatality for the city this year. Dr. Clarence R. Martin, Lycoming County coroner, said Mr. Palmatier died of a fractured skull and a brain injury. He said no inquest would be held. The accident occurred about 9 pm while Mr. Palmatier was reported to have been walking towards the center of the highway near the Daugherty's Run bridge. He was struck by a car driven by Paul E. Heggenstaller, of Loganton. At the time of the accident, city police said, Mr. Palmatier was walking toward Jersey shore and the Heggenstaller car was moving toward Williamsport. He is survived by two brothers, William and Elmer, both of Oregon Hill, Morris, RD. services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Oregon Hill Church, with the pastor, The Rev. Charles Russ, officiating. Burial will be in Oregon Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock and at the church after 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. |

Newspaper Article: Stricken with a heart attack on his arrival at the Penna Railroad station on Wednesday afternoon to spend Thanksgiving with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Phillips of Marsh Hill, Roy C. Phillips of Allensville, Mifflin County, died at the Williamsport Hopsital at 4:15 am Thursday. Mr. Phillips, who was 74 on November 20, retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad in October, 1945. He had been a carpenter foreman, a position he held when he was transferred to Williamsport in 1925. After his retirement, he and Mrs. Phillips moved to their childhood home in Mifflin County. At Allensville, Mr. Phillips was a member of his church council at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Allensville, and while in Williamsport, he was a member of the church of the same name in this city. His only sister, Mrs. Thomas W. Young of Belleville, died May 4, 1953. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters, Robert R., Marsh Hill, Mrs. Frederic G. Rohm, Montoursville RD2; Mrs. Joseph Herickes, East McKeesport; Earnest E., Baltimore, Md., and William W., of Silver Spring, Md. And seven grandchildren. of Liberty, died at his home in Kutztown Sunday. Mr. Raker, prior to his
retirement several years ago, was a teacher in the Kutztown State Teachers
College. He was a member of Eureka Lodge No. 335 F and AM, of Montoursville,
and the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg. Mr. Raker is survived by his
wife, Helen, two sons, John and Ned, both of Kutztown, and five grandchildren.

Newspaper Article: Donald K. Reeser, 22 died of self-imposed asphyxiation sometime during the night of Wednesday February 25, or the morning of Thursday February 26. State police who investigated the suicide said they "were satisfied" as to the "means of death". Dr. Clarence R. Martin, Lycoming County coroner, said no inquest would be held. The police were called at about 5 pm yesterday and asked to investigate a stopped station wagon on a dirt road, about a quarter of a mile off of Bloomingrove Road and approximately two miles north of the city limits. The call came from George E. Allen, of proctor Star Route, whose two daughters, Georgette, 10, and Ruth Clara, seven saw the sation wagon both on the way to school and on the way home. Cpl. Alex A. Rudville and Pfc. Joseph Maloney said that Mr. Reeser had evidently attached a three-foot length of hose to the exhaust of the station wagon and placed the open end in the rear of the vehicle. Mr. Reeser was behind the steering wheel, and the ignition was turned on when state police arrived at the scene. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Alice Reeser, of Montoursville, and two brothers, Joe R., of Binghamton, NY and Robert, of Montoursville. Services will be at 2 pm Monday at the funeral home. Newspaper Article: Norman B. Riddell, 73, of Linden, RD1, died at his home following a long illness on Saturday afternoon. He is survived by his wife, Blanche; three daughters, Eva Stabler, at home, Mrs. Myrtle Ewing, of Linden, and Mrs. Emma Lockuff, of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Floyd, at home, and Harry of Linden; one sister, Mrs. Harry Young of Linden; three brothers, Will of Linden, and Melvin and DeWitt of Williamsport. He also has one step-brother, Harry Bush, of Williamsport and eight grandchildren. Private services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in the funeral home. The Rev. E. Newspaper Article: John R. Robertson, 58, a well known local musician, died Tuesday afternoon at the Williamsport hospital following a short illness. As a young man, Mr. Robertson played with several "name bands" In recent years he was director of the Elks' and Repasz Bands, and appeared with the popular local little German band. He was employed as an instuctor at the Keefer School of Music. He was a member of Lodge No. 106 F and Am, and the Williamsport Lodge of Elks, No. 173. surviving are his mother, Mrs. Christina Robertson, this city; two daughters, Mrs. Adaline Dockey, South Williamsport, and Mrs. Edythe Stephens, Atlanta, Ga; a son, John, Jr., this city; a sister, Mrs. May Ostrander, this city, and two brothers, James, this city and Richard, Jersey Shore. Services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Harry W. Miller, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock. Elks' services will be held at 8 o'clock. |
