Newspaper Article: Gottlieb Waltz, 85 years old, retired contractor was found dead in bed at his home about 10 o'clock yesteray morning. Death was caused by a heart attack. He had been apparently in good health Tuesday evening. The deceased was one of Williamsport's foremost contractors of several years ago. He had been retired for the past 15 years. He had started in business in this city at the age of 17 years when he had moved here from Fairfield Center, and was a member of the firm of Waltz Brothers, Contractors, with two of his brothers, William H. and Andrew Waltz. After the death of his brothers he conducted the business himself for a few years. Among some of the buildings which this firm constructed were the First Presbyterian and the Trinity Episcopal churches, the City Hall, and the old Y.M.C.A. Mrs. Waltz was born at Fairfield Center on October 20, 1847 and was one of 11 children. He had lived in this city practically all of his life, having moved here when 17 years old, and resided in the same home for the past 65 years. Mr. Waltz was a charter member of the Central Baptist church. Mrs. Waltz died 13 years ago. Surviving Mr. Waltz are two sons, William L. Waltz of Seattle, Wash.; George R. Waltz, of Bethlehem; and two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Ehman and Mrs. Abbie Kent, at home; also seven grandchildren. A son, Orman Waltz who was a resident of Ithaca, NY, died two years ago. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his late home. |

Newspaper Article: Maybelle Williams was killed Sunday night when she fell from an auto operated by Eugene Fredericks as the door flew open just north of Buttonwood. The car skidded and the catch on the door failed to hold. Miss Williams suffered a depressed fracture of the skull and died almost instantly. No one else in the car was injured. Other occupants included Emerson O'Brion and Mary Williams, a sister of Maybelle. Miss Williams is survived by her father, Seth Williams of Morris, and the following sisters, Mrs. Leonard Cooney, of Austin; Mary of this city; Mrs. Lloyd Vroman, Lena Inez and Ina all at home. Newspaper Article: Joseph Wood, who recently celebrated his eighty-first birthday anniversary, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maxwell Hopkins. Born in England, Mr. Wood came to this country when he was 11 years old. A landscape gardener by profession. Mr. Wood was for a number of years in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad, having charge of the shrubbery and grounds on its property between Harrisburg and Renovo. Upon the death of his father, William Wood, Mr. Wood succeeded him as superintendent of Brandon Park. After retiring from the park superintendency, Mr. Wood devoted his time to his own flower garden, which came to be one of the show places of the city and of which he was very proud. Many amateur gardeners came to seek his advice. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Maxwell Hopkins and Mrs. Leo Dorshel, and one son, Bert Wood, all of this city. Funeral services will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J. Newspaper Article: W. A. Wurster, owner of the Wurster Battery and Ignition Company at 633 West Third street, died at 2:30 o'clock this morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. C. H. McLaughlin after a three months illness. Mr. Wurster was born in this city 51 years ago and had lived here all his life. He attended the public schools here and Potts Shorthand College and was at one time a teacher at the latter school. He also was associated with the Pennsylvania Lumber Company at one time. Prior to setting up business for himself seven years ago, Mr. Wurster had been with the Harer-Wurster Battery and Ignition Company. Mr. Wurster belonged to the Masonic organizations, He was a member of Ivey Lodge No. 397, of the Williamsport Consistory and of Irem Temple Shrine at Wilkes-Barre. He also belonged to the Elks' Lodge and to the L.O.O.M. H was a member of Third Street Methodist Church and had been active in Y.M.C.A. and other community projects. He is survived by a son, Arthur; three brothers, Harry, Edward and Clyde of this city; and by two sisters, Mrs. McLaughlin and Mrs. William Keefer, this city. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. McLaughlin and burial will be made in Wildwood cemetery. Friends may view the body at the home from 8 o'clock tomrorrow evening up to the time of the funeral. |

Newspaper Article: Funeral services for George N. Young, of Dayton, OH, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Young of Williamsport who was instantly killed in an automobile accident at Dayton Wednesday, as he was returning home from a business meeting in Cincinnati will be held at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of his parents. Sunday morning the body will be taken to Lewistown where services will be held in the Pine Glen Church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Pine Glen cemetery. Mr. Young was a World War veteran, serving as a corporal in Battery D, 107th Field Artillery. In Dayton he was a manager of the Transcontinental Freight Lines. He is survived by his wife, and three children, Jean of this city, and Lois and Alice at home; also by his parents Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Young; two sisters Mrs. Justina Knight of this city and Mrs. Frank Drake of Cogan Station and one brother, Elwood of Covington, KY. The Rev F. H.
