his home Thursday afternoon. He was a member of the South Williamsport
Methodist Church and a former member of the borough council. Surviving
are a son, L W Mack of South Williamsport; four daughters, Mrs. J e Churchill,

Street, died Friday in the Williamsport hospital of a rare blood condition.
He was a member of the junior class at Bucknell University in the chemical
engineering course and was a graduate of the Williamsport High School class
of 1930. At Bucknell, he was a member of the Delta Sigma Fraternity and
was active in track work. He was a member of the Covenant Central Presbyterian
Church here and was a ssistant scoutmaster for the American Legion Troop
of Boy schouts. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Mabel B. Mandell, of this city,
and a sister, Mrs. John C. Lutz of this city. Services will be held at
3:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Bastian-Maneval funeral home, with
burial in Wildwood cemetery. The body may be viewed in the home this evening |

of of 768 West Fourth Street, died Monday at the Williamsport Hospital,
Mr. masters was born in Lewisburg but had made his home in this city virtually
all his life. For the last 12 years he had been a clerk in the employ of
the Williamsport Wire Rope Company. Before that time he was engaged as
auditor and sometimes as clerk for some of the large hotel syndicates,
spending the winters in the large cities and the summers at resort hotels.
He had been in hotel work ever since he was 21 years old. Mr. Masters was
a former member of the Elks Lodge and had been prominent in amateur theatricals
here. He leaves a sister, Emma, this city and a brother C. W., of North
Hills, PA. Services were held Thursday at the Bastian-Maneval funeral home
with burial in the family plot at Catawissa. |

in the lumber industry in and around Williamsport all of his life. He was

who was well known throughout the city and county, was born in Salladasburg.
He was elected county auditor on the Republican ticket in 1893 and served
three years. Afterward, in 1899, he was elected county commissioner and
re-elected to the same office in 1908. He leaves his wife, Hannah S. McClarin,
and one son, Donald S., of Norfolk, VA. Mrs. McClarin was identified with
Williamsport Lodge No. 112, I.O.O.F., Knights of Malta, Knights of Pythias,
and Junior Order of American Mechanics. Funeral services, to be conducted
by the Rev. W. W. Willard of the Mulberry Street M. E. Church, will be
held at the Bastian-Maneval funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. |

for the worse about a week ago following an operation December 5, will

75, died at 8 o'clock last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence
L. Clark. Besides the daughter, he is survived by two sons, Rev. Harry
F. Meltzler, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church at
Oakland, Cal., and Edward Dean Meltzler, of this city. Also three sisters,
Mrs. John Mack and Mrs. Edward Faber, Newberry, and Mrs. Robert Gray of
this city. Four great grandchildren and twelve grandchildren also survive.
The funeral services will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clark,
Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. J. H. Conley, pastor of the Christian
and Missionary Alliance church officiating. He will be assisted by Rev.

fourth street died suddenly Thursday noon at his home while partake in
of his noonday meal. He had just returned from his usual mail route trip
to Wellsboro. Mr. Merrell for a number of years had operated the bus route
from this city to Wellsboro and two years ago was also awarded the delivery
of the mail between the two places. He was a member of the Calvary Methodist
Church and the Order of Junior Mechanics. He celebrated his 70th
birthday on Wednesday of this week. He is survived by his wife, two sons,
Diehl R., at home and Roy W. , this city; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Noden,
of Trenton, NJ also three brothers, Henry and Charles, of Liberty and James
of Lock Haven and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Bickel, Haywood, Cal., and Mrs.
Charles DeCoursey of Liberty. Funeral services will be held from the late
home Sunday at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W. Murray Young officiating. Interment
will be made in Union Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call at the home after

Newspaper Article: Joseph William Messimer died
at the Jersey Shore Hospital Friday morning following an illness of several
weeks. Funeral services will be held from the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Fred A. Cohick, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev.
W. R. Fitzgerald, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be
made in the local cemetery. Mr. Messimer was born near Antes Fort, June
29, 1856, the son of Joshua and Catherine Antes Messimer. At the time of
his death, he was the nearest living kin to the late Col. Henry Antes,
pioneer of this section and commander of Antes Fort, his mother being the
graddaughter of the famous colonel. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Cohick,
Mr. Messimer is survived by three sons, Floyd A., of Jersey Shore; Chester
Q., of Manchester, NY; and Guy W., of Collingswood, NJ. Seven grandchildren
also survive. Mr. Messimer was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and
Jersey Shore Lodge NO. 101, I.O.O.F. for the last 50 years. His wife, Mary
Celestia Messimer , died on the same day ten years earlier, April 7. |

widow of Thomas M. Morris, died suddenly at 6:10 o'clock yesterday at her
home. Mr. Morris died six weeks ago, from a heart attack. Mrs. Morris was
ill but half an hour. Mrs. Morris was born at Liberty and is survived by
two sons, Merton and Norman, both at home; five grandchildren; a brother,
Frank of Elmira; two sisters, Mrs. Bert Miller, of Montoursville, and Mrs.
Frances Brion of Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock
Saturday afternoon at the home with the Rev. I. M. Shambaugh in charge.
Interment will be made in Wildwood. |

age of 87 last night at 10 o'clock at his home. Mr. Morris was born in
Jackson Township, Liberty, but lived in this city for 35 years. He was
a charter member of I.O.R.M. No. 383, Tallalulla Tribe, this city. Surviving
Mr. Morris are his wife, two sons, Norman and Merton at home; two brothers,
Archie, Roaring Branch; and Ellis, Rochester, NY; and a sister, Mrs. William
Sinelinger, Liberty. Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W. I. Shambaugh, pastor of St. Paul's
Evangelical Church, in charge. Interment will be made in Wildwood cemetery. |

in Company B, 188th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Infantry during
the Civil War. Surviving him are his wife, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Johnson

Newspaper Article: William R. Mott, passenger
conductor for the S & NY Railroad Co., left Newberry yesterday morning
on his regular run, and was suddenly stricken upon his arrival in the Lehigh
Valley yards in Towanda. Mr. Mott had been connected with the RR Company
for the past twenty-three years as freight and passenger conductor. He
was a member of the Order of Railroad conductors for many years. He was
an active member of the Church of Christ in Newberry. His body was returned
to his home on the S & NY passenger train last evening. He is survived
by his wife, one son, William F. Mott, of Sayre; one daughter, Mrs. F L
McIntyre of Pittsburgh; three brothers, George Mott, of Sayre; Clair Mott,
Duluth, Minn.; LaZell Mott, of Endicott; five sisters Mrs. Herbert Woodward
and Mrs. Claude Hodge, Endicott; Mrs. Pearl O'Dell, Rochester, NY; Mrs.
Jennie Fields, Salamanca, NY; Mrs. Marion Therman, Bradford. One grandchild
William Mott, Jr., also survives. Funeral arrangements will be announced

an employe of the Altoona shops of Pennsylvania Railroad, collapsed on
the pavement at Fourth and Campbell streets about 1:15 o'clock yesterday
and died a few minutes later in the Bert Wood store, where he was carried
by passersby who noticed his sudden illness. Death was caused by a heart
condition. Mr. Mountain had come here yesterday to consult a physician,
from whom he had been receiving treatment and was on his way to the station
to return to Altoona, when he was overcome. The body was taken to the Bastian-Maneval

Newspaper Article: Henry Myers, prominent local
merchant died at 7:50 o'clock this morning at his home at the Park hotel
following a lingering illness. Mr. Myers was one of the founders of the
Myers Brothers clothing store at 15 West Third Street and was active in
business until two years ago when ill health forced his retirement. He
was born at Mason City, Ill, on September 15, 1865, and came to this city
with his parents when a boy. He began his career working for the Michael
Levi clothing concern located in Market square and after a few years there,
went to Lock Haven where he was employed by Edward Hecht. From there he
moved to Jersey Shore where in 1897 he opened the first Myers Brothers
store in company with his brother, Morris. The store in this city was opened
in 1902 by Mrs. Myers and his brother, Abe A. Myers at its present location.
The business has increased and the store has been enlarged several times
and in 1913 Mr. Myers purchased the building in which the store is situated.
Mr. Myers had been a director of the Lycoming Trust Company and also served
as director of the Lycoming National Bank. He was a member of the Elks'
lodge at Jersey Shore and was past president of the Pennsylvania Retail
Clothiers association. Mr. Myers had served as president of the Temple
Beth Hasholom for seven years, until his ill health caused his resignation
two years ago. Surviving Mr. Myers are his wife and a son, L. Carol Myers,
who is a partner in Myers Brothers store and who has carried on the business
since his father's retirement; two sisters, Miss Estella Myers and Mrs.
Jane Myers Cohen of this city; a brother, Mortimer A. Myers of New York
City. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 o'clock
at Temple Beth Hasholom and burial will be made in Wildwood. The body may
be viewed at the temple from 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon until the time
for the funeral. |

of Abram H. Myers of DuBoistown, R.D. died at the Fothfuss Clinic early
Wednesday morning at the age of 63 years. Besides her husband she is survived
by five daughters; Mrs. Lloyd Reed, Mrs. Rebecca Dewalt, of DuBoistown;
Miss Tillie Myers, at home; Mrs. Ruth Rose, Warrensville; Miss Sue Myers
at home, and three sons, John Myers of Collomsville; Donald, DuBoistown;
Joseph at home. Her mother, Mrs. John Buttlemore of Mr. Pleasant, PA; a
brother, Charles Buttlemore of Uniontown, and two sisters, Miss Camelia
Buttlemore, Mr. Pleasant; Mrs. Edward Hancock of Scotdale, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock
with the Rev. J. Ray Houser of St. Mark's Lutheran Chruch officiating.
Interment will be made in Wildwood cemetery.
