The funeral will take place from the home of his son, Alex Chernick, Connerton, at 9 o'clock on Thursday morning. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the Holy Ghost, Polish National Catholic Church, Shenandoah, at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. |

Newspaper Article: Melvin Reamer Clark, former resident of Williamsport died at Villanova, Wednesday evening after a long illness. Mr. Clark was born at Wayne in 1883 and was a direct descendant of the colonial Kapp family of Pennsylvania. Mr. Clark is a former vestryman at the Trinity Episcopal Church and also took an interest in the Boy Scouts. Associated with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Mr. Clark transferred to Philadelphia in 1934, and at the time of his retirement in 1951, was general agent of the Eastern Region. He was awarded the company's gold button award in 1951 for 50 years service. His wife, the former Julia Ebert of this city, preceded him in death in 1941. Surviving are one son, Dr. John Kapp Clark, of Wynewood, and one brother, Howard F., of Drexel Hill, along with four grandchildren. Services will be held at the Trinity Episcopal church Saturday at 10 o'clock under the charge of the Rev. Francis P. Davis. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 this evening. |

Newspaper Article: Dayton Day, 24 of Trout Run RD died at the Williamsport hospital late Thursday afternoon. Death was attributed to injuries sustained Tuesday while working on a road project at Steam Valley. According to reports last evening, young Day was employed by the Interstate Ameisite Company. At the time of the mishap he was driving a roller, which was stopped on top of a hill for traffic. The roller drifted backward. Managing to maneuver the heavy piece of equipment away from oncoming traffic, Day was unable to regain control and crashed into a guard rail. The impact threw him to the ground and the roller continued down an embankment. He was a member of the Beech Grove Church and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Day; seven sisters, Mrs. Willis Hall, Elmira, NY; Mrs. Fred Petitt, of this city; and Della, Nellie, Flora, Bonnie, Velma, all at home; two brothers, Charles at home and Leonard serving in the U. Mr. DeWitt was a member of the High Street Methodist Church and the Consolidated Sportsmen's Association. He was an employe of the Brannaka Welding Company, and was a veteran of World War I. He as a charter member of the West End Gospel Tabernacle, of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at Beeber Street and Memorial Ave. He formed the Dittmar Furniture Company which continued until 1925 when the firm became Crooks and Dittmar, specializing in flooring. Later the company became what is now the Cromar Company. In addition he organized a business with his brothers, known as the Williamsport Building Products. He continued in this affiliation until his retirement. Surviving are three daughters, Misses Martha V. and Ida M., both at home; and Florence C., Ardmore; two sons, Irvin of this city; and Arthur of Douglas, Ariz.; one sister, Miss Emma Dittmar, and two brothers, William and Walter, all of this city; and eight grandchildren. |

Center was found dead about noon Sunday February 15 along Little Pine Creek
near his home. A native of English Center, he was the grandson of Jeremiah
English, for whom English Center was named. Dr. Clarence R. Martin, Lycoming
County coroner, announced that Mr. English died of natural causes. Neighbors
stated that Mr. English was seen last Tuesday afternoon when he went to
Little Pine Creek with a pail for water. Dr. Martin stated that he apparently
died of a heart attack at that time. Mr. English was a part time employe
of the Texas and Blockhouse Hunting and Fishing Club. He is survived by
three sisters, Mrs. Elsie M. Corson, Linden; Mrs. Nettie Juno, Rochester,
NY and Mrs. Lulu Watts, of Union City. Funeral arrangements have not been
completed pending word from out -of-state relatives.
