"Chinese" Proverb - The person who says it cannot be done should not
interrupt the person doing it
Enemies of truth.-- Convictions are more dangerous enemies of truth than lies. from Nietzsche's Human, all too Human, s.483, R.J. Hollingdale transl. "Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science." Your Tri-Counties site is terrific, and often the best source for obscure pictures and information about the small towns that dot Tioga & Bradford Counties.
PennDOT has historic county maps online here:

Route numbers changed often and alignments shifted as the Department upgraded roads, and these maps help verify locations of schools, churches, etc.

Joyce,
I also remembered an additional source of historic maps that would also include NY: http://historical.mytopo.com/
For example, here’s a 1902 map showing Lawrence Twp. in Tioga County and others south:

Well, it happened. Many might have predicted it, but now it is official. I am no longer a real person. Today I attempted to write a comment on Mansfield's Facebook page congratulating the Mansfield High School Class of 1959 on their upcoming fiftieth anniversary celebration. I have written comments before but that apparently was while I was still a real person. The message I got today is that to add my message I have to verify my account. The procedure, it explains, is to determine that only real people are writing comments by having them enter their mobil phone number. Then they will text a message confirming that your account is verified and you are a real person. Well, I don't have a mobil cell phone number. I don't need one. I had a car phone for many years from the time they first came out until I more or less retired, but I discontinued it when I found I no longer used it. For many years I was a cutting-edge technophile, but now that stage has passed and I no longer exist. I guess I am just a figment of my own imagination. Following is the message I attempted to add to Mansfield's Facebook page:
Congratulations to Mansfield High School Class of 1959 celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this weekend. Marieva Loesche, MU President, will be giving a short presentation to them on Twain Theater, and I will be showing them my Mansfield History slide show that many of you have seen at 1890s or at my museum. It includes photos from the Sesquicentennial book I co-authored and many hundreds more of Mansfield's past. I hope they have a great celebration and good weather.
Signing off, the former real person. Joyce M. Tice
PS How many more unreal people are lurking out there? Send me a note
if you are one of them..
PS again - Am I supposed to be ashamed or something because I don't
have a mobile phone number? I also do not twitter.
