ANDERSON, Curtis Bailey [SRGP 89184] - Curtis Anderson, 36, of Carpenter St., Blossburg was found dead inside his apartment shortly before six Monday morning. Blossburg Borough Police chief John Davis said death appears to have been due to natural causes. He was born August 9, 1940 in Mansfield the son of William and Geraldine Bailey Anderson. He was a Navy veteran and employed by Jimmy Preston for the past 10 years. He is survived by wife, Joann Anderson of Covington; one son, Curtis R., of Covington; mother, Mrs. Geraldine Anderson of Mansfield; two brothers, William P. of Millerton and Charles R. of Hershey; one sister, Mrs. Phillip [Margaret] Rose of Montoursville. Funeral services were held at the Tussey Funeral Home, Wellsboro, Wednesday [today] with Rev. William Emery officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield. - Wellsboro Gazette, June 1, 1977

 Genevieve 'Jenny' Avery Updike, 49, and Alton S. Updike, 50, of Gillett, PA died June 12, 1991. They are survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Laurie Updike of Elmira, James and Pam Updike of Gillett, PA; children, Jeff Updike of Elmira, Todd Updike at home, Amy Updike at home; grandchildren, Sara, Tiffany and Tara Updike. Jenny is also survived by mother and father, Merle and Carolyn Avery of Sherwood Manor, Mansfield, PA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Daisy and Kenneth Hicks of Roseville, PA, Frances and David Bolt of Millerton; several nieces and nephews; two aunts and one uncle.  Jenny was a member of the Fassett Baptist Church and the church organist. Alton is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Clarabelle and LaRue Decker of Gillett, Christine and Dick Freeman of Lawrenceville, PA, Charlotte and Vernon Foresterling of Long Island, NY; brother, Leon Updike of Watkins Glen; several nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles. Funeral services were held at the Fassett Baptist Church on June 15 with Pastor Donald Rockwell officiating and interment to be in Gillett Cemetery.  Arrangements were by the Don Kalec Funeral Home in Elmira. age 70, of Mansfield, PA died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. David was born June 20, 1941 in Mansfield, PA, a son of Chester and Elsie (Wilson) Case. He was the husband of Isabelle "Daisy" (VanDyke) Case for nearly 24 years. David was a sales representative for Equitable of Iowa/ING, served on the board for Prospect Cemetery Assoc. for over 30 years and was overseer of Prospect and Oakwood Cemeteries. He was a member of Mansfield Friendship Lodge #247 of F&AM, an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and operating his heavy equipment. David was a veteran of the Navy and was a part of the Special Forces and a member for the First Baptist Church of Mansfield.  David is survived by his wife, Daisy; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark (Jennifer Shedd) Case, Chris and Lisa Case, of Mansfield, PA; two step-sons, Michael (Christina) Kenyon of Canandaigua, NY and Mark (Peggy) Kenyon of Clay, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Mark Drumheiser of Harrisburg, PA; a sister, Marsha Henderson of Yorktowne Heights, NY. Dave's extended family includes: Kipper (Darlene) Burleigh, Cindee (David) Burleigh-Saska. He took great pride in telling he had 18 grandchildren - Trevor Case (Andrea), Wyatt Case, Cooper Case, Connor, Shane, Isabelle, Colette, Aiden, Kate, Patrick, and Tom Kenyon, Zach, Colton and Jacob Saska, Bo, Brock, Brent and Brody Burleigh. Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Lenda (Wells) Case.  Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday, May 25, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. COLEGROVE, Mary Jane [SRGP 83466] - Mary Jane Taylor, 77, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Health, Carlisle. She was born October 15, 1941 in Baltimore, MD. Mary Jane was a daughter of the late Max and Anna Belle Loveland Colegrove. Mary Jane retired as the Director of the Rowland Laboratory School at Shippensburg University. She was a member of Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg, and was actively serving as a Ruling Elder. Mary Jane was a member of the Shippensburg Civic Club and was on the Board of Directors at Katie’s Place. She was a member of the International Association of Laboratory Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Taylor, Sr. who passed away October 29, 2014. One grandson, Mark Heinz and one brother, James Colegrove are also deceased. Mary Jane is survived by four children, Pam Heinz of Carpintera, CA , Kathryn (Doug) Wilburne of Shippensburg, Robert (Kathy) Taylor, Jr. of Houghton Lake, MI and Patrick (Kim) Taylor of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Colegrove of Mansfield, and John Colegrove of NC; and a number of nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Monday, November 12, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Jan. M. Costley, 61, of Allentown died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown.   Born Feb. 17, 1941, in Elmira,
N.Y., he was the son of Arthur and Margaret (Goodrich) Costley. He was a cook at Just Born Candy Company in Bethlehem for the past 15  years.   He was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield High School.  He served in the U.S. Army for six years. Preceding him in death were his mother, Margaret; and a brother, Leonard Costley, 10 years ago.  Surviving is his father, Arthur Costley of Mansfield.  Friends may call at the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, on Saturday, March 9, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Graveside services will be held Monday, March 11, at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield.  The Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, is in charge of the  arrangements.  Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

MANEVAL, Monica - Monica Maneval Boinski, age 76, passed away quietly at her home on March 8, 2018. She was born on June 13, 1941 in Mansfield, a daughter of Arnold and Frances Maneval. Monica was the wife of Robert Boinski. Monica enjoyed gardening, bird watching, motorcycling and crossword puzzles. Monica is survived by her husband, Robert Boinski of Millerton, PA; her sister, Margaret (Kenny) Rost-Paul of Cameron, MO; her daughters, Susan Hilfiger-Maneval (David) McClure of Pittsburgh, PA, Michelle Hilfiger (Bob) Baxter of Carlisle, PA, Brenda Hilfiger (Scott) Smith of Mainesburg, PA, Carole Hilfiger (Kory) Kipferl of Mainesburg, PA, and Cheryl Lynn Johnson of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fran Hilfiger, and a grandson, Robert Malcolm Baxter III. Per her request, there will not be a public viewing – we will have a private family gathering. She was loved by everyone and was an awesome lady and an even better mentor and advisor. Longtime resident of Big Flats, NY. Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend died March 21, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY at the age of 70.
Garth was predeceased by his father, Eugene Mortimer, father- in- law, James Bensley, Sr., brother-in-law, James Bensley, Jr., son-in- law, Robert Rachinsky, Jr.,and daughter - in- law, Kelly Valerie Mortimer. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Bensley Mortimer, his children, Julianne Simmons of Elmira, NY, Timothy Scott Mortimer of Las Vegas, NV and Melissa Rachinsky of Ridgefield, CT, his mother, Margaret Mortimer of Mansfield, PA and his sister and brother- in- law, Barbara and John First of Port Matilda, PA, mother-in-law, Clara Bensley of Elmira Heights, NY, sister- in- law, Marilynn Bensley of Clifton Park, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves behind the joys of his life; his four grandchildren, Devin, Erik and Victoria Simmons and Reed Rachinsky. Lou was born in S. Williamsport, PA and moved to Mansfield, PA when he was eleven years old. He graduated from both Mansfield High School and Mansfield State College where he played basketball on championship teams. Lou was a respected math and computer science teacher as well as a basketball coach at Campbell Central School and Horseheads High School for over 34 years. He had a true talent for gardening and love of the outdoors and spent many happy times working in the yard or tending to the family cabin in the woods. He was always active whether it was walking, playing golf, trivia or cards with his longtime friends. In addition to supporting his children's and grandchildren's sports, Lou was an avid Boston Red Sox, NY Giants and Boston Celtics fan. He and Ann enjoyed traveling especially to Cape Cod and had just returned from a wonderful Caribbean cruise. Lou will be sorely missed by many friends and family. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 11AM to 2PM. Lou’s Funeral Service will follow with Rev. Rhonda Kouterick. Lou will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery immediately following. ROUPP, Richard L. – Richard L. Roupp, 77, formerly of Mifflinburg and Mansfield, entered into rest Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. He was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Sayre. A son of the late Edgar L. and Thelma A. [Slingerland] Roupp. Richard was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield High School. He honorably served in the Army National Guard. Richard was a graduate of Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, NY. He owned and operated the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., Mifflinburg, from 1986 until he retired in 1999. Richard enjoyed raising horses and other farm animals, antique shopping, and attending auctions. He was a former member of the Tioga Valley Saddle Club, Mansfield. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lydia Vanessa K. and Marc J. Speciale of Johnstown, and Cortney K. and Ryan S. Klose of Mifflinburg; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Andre' W. K. and Ellie Kreisher Roupp of Mifflinburg, and Tristan G. K. Roupp and his companion Sarah Combs of Lewisburg; seven grandchildren; one brother, Edgar H. Roupp of Mansfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Constance A. and David M. Rawson of Germania, and Bonnie L. and Cliff Cross of Mansfield; one aunt, Jean Stadler of Mansfield; and nieces and nephews. SMITH William B. "Bill" (SRGP  11380) William B. Smith, age 64, of Bell Road, Wellsboro, PA, died September 3, 2005, at home. Bill was born February 4, 1941 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Boyd W. and Etta Pearl Van Dousen Smith. He was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield High School and was a local business owner of the former North Star Bar for 20 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1147, A.B.A.T.E. of PA, the Harley's Owner Group (H.O.G), and enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, shooting pool, and was an avid racing fan. Bill is survived by a son, Douglas (Lori) Smith, Ulster, PA; fiancee, Kimberly Kline, Wellsboro, PA; brother, Thomas (Paula) Smith, Troy, PA; sisters, Beverly Staron and Norma Mattison, both of Mansfield, PA; three grandsons, Nathan, Aaron and Dane Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Edwin, in 1993. 67, of Mansfield, PA, died November 14, 2008 at Manor Care North, Williamsport, PA. He was born August 13, 1941 in Mansfield, the son of Adelbert Sr. and Marjorie Whitney Tomlinson. Jim retired from North Penn Gas Co. after 35 years of service. He was an Air Force Veteran, a member of Holy Child Catholic Church, and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Cynthia Christ; a daughter, Jamie of Newark, DE; a son, John of Mansfield; and two sisters, Helen Burt and Maryann Aumick, both of Mansfield. He was predeceased by a brother, Adelbert, Jr.; and two sisters, Patricia Belletto and Kay Crumb. Friends are invited to call at the Gary Wilston Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 130 S. Bill was a United State Navy veteran and a member of the Morris Run American Legion. In addition to his mother of Wellsboro, he is survived by a son, Scott of Bristol, Tenn.; daughter, Paige Baker of Blountville, Tenn.; brother, Byron of Covington; two sisters. Linda Thomas of Hornell, NY, Judy VanNoy of Lewisburg; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1995. WELLS - Mrs. Lenda M. Case [SRGP 13275], 45, wife of David C. Case, of Mansfield RD1, died Friday, January 23, 1987, in Williamsport Hospital. Born at Mansfield on September 9, 1941, she was a daughter of Ingute J. [Stub] and Pearl Hitchcock Wells. Mrs. Case was a member of First Baptist Church of Mansfield. She was a reading teacher at Warren L. Miller Elementary School for the past six years. Mrs. Case was reared by her father and his second wife, Mrs. Irene Wells, of Mansfield. Mr. Wells died last Dec. 24. Surviving, besides Mrs. Wells are her husband; two sons, Mark and Christopher, both of Mansfield; a daughter, Miss Michelle Case of York Haven; four brother, John Wells of Forksville, David Mudge and Terry Mudge, both of Mansfield, and James Mudge of East Amherst, NY; and a sister, Mrs. Lucinda Zientek of Mechanicsburg. The funeral was held on Saturday in the First Baptist Church at Mansfield. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Benjamin E. Nevin, her pastor, officiated. There will be no visitation. the family will provide the flowers. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Joyce M. Tice presented a program on the history of  Mansfield and Mansfield High School. Class of 1959 was a terrific audience. Both Dr. Loeschke and I asked to be adopted by the class, and we were.
