Hi again Joyce.
Since you got me in the mood, I thought I would transcribe this orphan record. After Calvin Pratt died in 1827 and his wife Rosetta died in 1829, they left 4 minor children. This record names them including Lucy my ggg Grandmother. Alonzo listed among them, mentions the other 3 in his Will. Jehial Pratt could be a known older brother, or possibly an uncle (father of Perry B. Pratt, also mentioned in Alonzo's Will).

Thanks for your TREMENDOUS contribution to genealogy. Your site is the BEST. FYI, I found this Find A Grave page under Dr. J. T. Pratt with a short description of the stone...no BIO. I knew instantly who it was so I adopted it and created the bio. Some of this information is inspired by you, some by Patrick Andrus with whom I have lost communication so I hope he finds this on his own. I have also had much communication with Jaye Lovelace Pratt, author of THE PRATT BOOK. This does not solve the complete riddle of the Prat Orphans, but it does shed some light. Thank you so much for all that you do. Please feel free to use whatever you can from this page.
Dr Jehiel T. Pratt

This small memorial is engraved:
"DR. J. T. PRATT
died 11/09/1857
aged 63y 10m 15d"
(The birthdate of 12/25/1793 is not engraved on his memorial. It is calculated based upon the engraved age at his death date.) contributed by SM
Jehiel T. Pratt was born in Albany Co NY. It is presumed that he was born in the town of Freehold where, in 1790, one finds Beriah and brothers, Simon, Daniel and William Pratt, from the Framingham MA family of PRATTS. Simon died in NY in the 1790s. Beriah and William joined brother, Ephraim, in Luzerne Co PA by 1800 and were on the tax rolls in Burlington, which was subsequently annexed into Bradford County PA circa 1810-1812. A large contingent of Framingham Pratts are included on the Bradford Co tax rolls by 1812.
According to the History of Bradford County, the Pratts were a somewhat numerous and prominent family from Massachusetts, settling in West Burlington. The first to come were Ephraim and William Pratt in 1798. A little later Beriah Pratt arrived and still later John Pratt. In 1812 the assessable Pratts in Burlington were Beriah, Calvin, Ephraim, Elias, Gilbert, Jedediah and William. While not named in the assessable list, Jehiel T. Pratt was a member of this family, and he is undoubtedly the Jehiel T. Pratt who was appointed guardian of the "Pratt Orphans" of Burlington, Bradford Co PA in 1829.
Jehiel married Elizabeth UNK and by the 1830 census the "Pratt Orphans" were living in other households.
It is not known when or where Jehiel received his medical training, but he was practicing medicine in Indiana by 1850 as reported on the census in Hendricks County. It is in the 1850 census that we learn that he was born in Albany, a critical link in placing him in the Framingham family. In the household is his wife Elizabeth and his son Wilson at age 18, born ~1832 in PA. Elizabeth preceeded him in death. Jehiel died in South Bend Indiana in 1857. Also living in South Bend one can find Wilson and his family in the 1870 census.
With thanks to Patrick Andrus, Jane Lovelace Pratt and Joyce Tice for
their contributions.
