We just received our first copies of our 14 month 2009 calendar published by the Southport Historical Society.  It is full of historical photos and information and also has sections on information from the Town of Southport and the Historical Society.  It would make a wonderful Christmas present or a gift for any occasion.  You can get your copy for a $10.00 donation (tax deductible) by e-mailing Toni Mason at tmason@stny.rr.com.

Nov 12 Hello Joyce,
I am just sending an email to thank you for all of the work that you have done in putting together such a great site, albeit a very tedious one, I can imagine. My name is Marielle and I am from Towanda, Bradford County. I moved out to Los Angeles in 2003 and am most likely going to be here for the rest of my life, I am sick of freezing my extremities off in PA. :0 I am currently getting my Master's in Clinical Psychology with an MFT emphasis and am in the process of doing a "family map" or a genogram. Besides my mother and a few other older relatives who can't seem to remember much, I am at a loss for finding out various birthdates, marriages, deaths, whatnot. That is until I found your site that has been dedicated to my very own humble PA hometown and the other humble surrounding counties. It is great just to even see a marriage announcement of my grandmother and grandfather, who unfortunately died early in life and I have never had the pleasure of meeting them. Just little newspaper clippings like that mean so much and now that I am close to the age of 30, I am starting to feel like I may need to know a little more about my family before I continue on. Strange how age does that to you. :)

Enough of the blather, thank you for your work. It's a really easy site to navigate which makes it that much more welcoming, especially with something as the study of genealogy being a potential nightmare to figure out!

I send you Cali sun, Marielle
