Joyce's Search Tip - December 2007 -
 |
Do You Know that you can search just the
600
pages of Tioga County Cemetery Records on the site by using the Cemeteries
-Tioga button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the
Current
What's New Page? If you use that partition follow these steps to
search just one cemetery.
1. Choose Cemeteries - Tioga.
2. Enter part of the cemetery name [ie Newbury or Furman] AND a surname.
3. Choose the Find ALL Words option. Then it will find just the pages
with that surname in the one cemetery you indicated. |

CHAMPLIN CEMETERY, WESTFIELD TOWNSHIP, TIOGA COUNTY,
PA
The Champlin Cemetery was incorporated August 1887, by S.M. Strawn,
John Champlin, Erastus Hoose, E.M. Tucker, and G.H. Tremain.
It is located on the old George Champlin Place, east of the California
Brook and the California Road and adjacent to the north side of Route 49,
about one mile east of Westfield, PA, a beautiful site.
This was an old neighborhood burial ground and was used for many years
before incorporation. Many burials in this cemetery are without stones
or markers. Many older markers are barely legible. We have
made every attempt to research, update, and offer this information.
This listing has been compiled of information on the markers and
“Notes and Inscriptions,” which may indicate “No tombstone located in 2003.”
To provide additional information we have included statistics obtained
from cemetery records and other sources. Flag markers are our sources
of wars served when there is no government plaque.
We have divided the cemetery into four sections: Section One beginning
by Route 49. The remaining sections are divided by the
roads. Markers have been read beginning on the eastern side
in rows from south to north, proceeding westward by rows.
It is our intention to provide as much accurate information that is
available and assist in offering statistics that may be a valuable source
for those doing genealogical research. As hard as recorders try,
there will always be errors.
