Post Offices in Wells Township in 1870 included Old Hickory (later called Aspinwall in southern part of township) and French Mills (Now Mosherville in northern section of township) . In this census pages one through twelve used the Old Hickory Post Office in the south and pages thirteen through thirty one, picked up their mail at French Mills in the north. There was no rural delivery at this time so rural people had to pick up their own mail, usually weekly, at the post office in the near village.
