The Igloos of the North American and Greenland lands are shelters built out of snow blocks by the people who inhabit the area. They are also known as snow huts and are not built by just Inuit people, but also many Canadians and the people of Greenland build them too. The snow blocks that make up these igloos are made with snow that is easy to pact and is a good insulator. Snow was a common insulator in the Inuit houses because the air pockets within snow make it an insulator inside their whalebone and hide shelters. These pockets coupled with the warmth of body heat made the snow huts considerably warmer than that of the temperatures inside. Igloos are built in a dome shape and consist of a very complex equations when it comes to the science on how they structurally stand. The bricks are laid out in a circular fashion and increasing in size as they build up and around one another. Another architectural addition to the dome is a snow tunnel. This snow tunnel makes it so the warm air does not escape as easily as it would if there was just a door at the front. The tunnel keeps the cold out and the heat in.

By WPA PA probably in 1930s. Set was in the education museum of M.S.T.C., probably on the Campus Elementary School which is now called the Retan Center, until transferred to Warren L. MIller Elementary School after it was built in 1972. Most recent location was in WLM school library.
