The California Provincial of 19th Century Monterrey was originally the Old Whaling Station of Monterrey, the first capital of California. The building was originally built as a home in 1847 and was then converted to a whale operations headquarters in 1855. Remnants of the whaling process can still be found around the property like blubber boiling pots. The building is now used as a beautiful places for weddings, parties, business functions, and other special events. The area holds many flowering gardens and is decorated with irreplaceable whale bone sidewalks. All profits made from their events go to support the areas improving the areas charitable and educational community.

Provenance:
By WPA PA probably in 1930s. Set was in the education museum of M.S.T.C., probably on the Campus Elementary School which is now called the Retan Center, until transferred to Warren L. MIller Elementary School after it was built in 1972. Most recent location was in WLM school library.
