Reading a series of obituaries from a single cemetery, as they are presented here, is like reading the multi-generational history of a community. These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. |

MITCHELL Lovina - At Mitchell Creek, Tioga, Pa.,
November 19th, 1861, Lovina Inscho, wife of John Inscho, Esq., aged 66 years.
The deceased was the only surviving daughter of Richard Mitchell, one of the
early settlers of this valley, who nearly sixty years ago came in this county
and undertook the hardships of pioneer life. She had but one sister, who died
while quite young. She had four brothers, three of whom are yet living. Her
father and mother were long since gone to the "spirit world." she was a woman of
excellent judgment, and very reasonable qualities in the times in which she
lived. With a retentive and --- memory, she was well supplied with interesting
incidents in the early history of this county, to many of which I have often
listened with much satisfaction while she was relating them with great accuracy.
The experience of a long and industrious life gave her much correct knowledge,
and that wisdom for which we should all have a high respect. But I cannot say
what I would in the space, proper to be used. She is gone, and rests with her
kindred. She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Baptist Church, and is
undoubtedly receiving the rewards of Christian fortitude and sacrifices. -
