Russell J. Parmenter instantly killed in action in France, Aug. 13. Enlisted two years ago while employed in the Morrow plant in Elmira. Trained at Camp Wadsworth and went overseas in May landing in France on Decoration Day, this years. He was in Co. I. Of the 108th infantry, 27th Division.

He was a son of Brenton Parmenter of Columbia Cross Roads and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Gates and Mr. and Mrs. James Parmenter of Springfield. His mother now Mrs. James Smith resided in Avon, N. Y. He leaves also two sisters, Mildred and Marion Parmenter.
