Temperance NILES born in Connecticut in
1796, daughter of Nathan NILES and Irena RUSSELL, died after 1870, probably
in Rutland Township. She married Tiimothy BRACE 12 MAR 1814. She is buried
in the Lawrence Corners Cemetery in Rutland Township. This photo was photographed
in the 1960s by Edward SMITH and stored as a slide. His son, Dave SMITH
of Dryden NY, recently found the boxes of his father's slides and brought
them to me. I projected this on screen and photographed it with a digital
camera. Temperance is the one with the dominant genes in this pair. Those
of us who have lived in the eastern Tioga County area know many people
living today who look very much like their ancestor, Temperance.
Timothy BRACE was born in
New York 29 MAR 1787, son of Hannah COOK and Lt. William BRACE. He died
28 NOV 1870 in Rutland Township and is buried in the Lawrence Corners Cemetery
in Rutland with wife Temperance NILES. See Temperance writeup for details
