Death records were recorded for Elmira, NY for the years 1867-1881. The records are being typed by Sherry Nichols, Sharon Archer and Sharon Newman.
The original death records can be found in a ledger located at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY.  They are all written in long hand and some of the writing is hard to read. Also in the ledger you will find the cause of death and the physician's names. In 1975 Joseph and Doris Boyd copied the records and typed them up. Their records  are at the Chemung Co. Historical Soc. They were microfilmed and the film can be found at Steele Memorial Library.

I found the following death record and then two records of a burial for the same child.

In "Deaths Recorded 1867 - 1881 Elmira, Chemung Co., NY":
Marvin Frank   June 4, 1871 1y 3m 15d Edward & Mary J. Iowa. 47 DeWitt St.   Southport, Beckwith Ground

In the "Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY": Marvin Frankie  June 4 1871 1y 1m 15d

In the "Marvin or Beckwith Cemetery" in Southport:
Frank Marvin born Iowa son of Edward and Mary J. Marvin died June 4, 1871 age 1y 3m 15d at 47 DeWitt Street buried Southport Beckwith ground (Elmira City Death Record - no marker found)

Although the age (months) do not match, this is obviously the same child.  Perhaps they changed their mind about the burial place after submitting the death record, or put a marker at Woodlawn in later years even though he was buried at Beckwith (his father is at Woodlawn).

Can you put a notation on the Beckwith page to "see also" Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY?  It may be helpful to someone later on.
