D. O Secor and James Secor are listed as David O Whipple and James Whipple in the 1850 Census of Springfield, Bradford County, Pa residing in the household of Luther and Ruth Whipple.  Consequently, many genealogists have listed them as Whipples when in fact their names remained Secor into adulthood.
