The following list is part of
the Tioga County Cemetery Inscriptions– Volume 4 . Cemetery read and published
1969.

Whitneyville cemetery (East Charleston) is situated within a mileof the western line of Richmond Twp. and in the northeastern portion ofCharleston Twp. It was earlier known as Wilcox. The first road fromWhitneyville to Spencer's Mills at Canoe Camp, was cut out by Tyrus andSolomon Rice. There are now two roads leading from Whitneyville to theTioga riveer, Post Road and the County Road.
In Whitneyville, are buried many of the settlers of that vicinity. The cemetery is located just east of the Methodist Church and directlybeside Legislative rount 58117. Inscriptions were copied by Mrs. Lola Franke of Wellsboro in 1969.
I, Hilda Chance, had copied it and have it in Book 1 but Lola is more thorough than I and has complete dates. Therefore, I include her copy in this book, which also has the late burials.
