On Mansfield's South Main Street, the barber shop, newsroom and Harsock's Bakery stood side by side for many years in the 1950s. I have been able to accumulate photos of some from yearbook ads these businesses sponsored and from other souerces as well.

Davey's Newsroom and Hartsock's Bakery in 1957
In this photo Jim Carracciolo stands outside his shop next to the barber shop, newsroom and bakery. The bakery building remains as Gannon Insurance Agency in 2010. The others were razed when the Waldeman Building was erected.
This July 2010 photo is of the same sequence of buildings as above. The Mansfield Restaurant, which in its latest version was called University Club, was razed 2010 and replace by the new borough building which also incorporates the Waldeman Building. The blue building at right is the former Hartsock's Bakery, now insurance agency.

Hamilton Brown's Barber Shop

Hamilton Brown ran his barber shop of South Main Street for many years. This may be the same locaton where Allen Peterson operated his barber shop many years earlier..

Hartsock's Bakery
We can't remember the Hartsock's Bakery without remembering the wonderful odors that it emitted. Everyone who went there remembers their favorite treat. See also; The Neighborhood Baker
