Burlington Township
in Bradford County,
Pennsylvania

The town of Burlington was named for Burlington, Vermont which was an early home of some of the pioneers who settled it. At an earlier time this was called Juddsburg by the Susquehanna Company. Juddsburg was the name the early settlers used for the whole Sugar Creek Valley.
Burlington was formed in 1801 from Wysox. In 1804 or 1808 pieces contributed to Canton, Wyalusing and Towanda. In 1815, Troy was formed from it. In 1820 an additional piece was given to Towanda. In 1831 Granville was formed from it and in 1855, West Burlington was formed from it. This has truly been the mother or grandmother of many other Bradford County Townships.
