Title:
Pennsylvania Farmhouse
Description:
Pennsylvania Farm House Muller 1752 Millbach
Title located on top of the base.
The Pennsylvania Farm House was actually named the Miller House and Mill, but the name was most likely changed from the immigrant's original last name, Mueller. The house is settled in Millbach, Pennsylvania in Lebanon County. The house was originally built in 1752 as a sandstone and limestone 2 and a half story Germanic-Style building. It consists of a double attic, three bays across and two rooms deep, a gambrel roof, and a pent eave that was originally built around the first floor, but was eventually removed with only a portion left at the front. A mill was attached to the house in 1785 and a small log cabin also inhabits the property as well. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and most of the woodwork within the house has been relocated to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is preserved due to its significance to the history of Germanic architecture in Pennsylvania, the idea of small industry and family, and holds roots in the areas rich history.
