Joyce,

Identification of 1948 West Warren baseball team follows.  http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/sports/1948wwar.htm

We have identified all but 1 or 2 of the guys in the picture. The caption that states William Becker is 3rd from the right in the 1st row is incorrect. That's Walt Brown, my uncle.
Front row L to R: Hi Taylor, Walt Brown, Leonard (Stub) Barnes, and Sock Antisdel. 2nd row: Ernest (Jid) Manchester, Roger (Pog) Brown, Effy Antisdel, Gib Manchester, and Irving( Buck) Brown
3rd row: ???, Paul (Ernie) Young, Bernerd (Edie) Cook- just forehead visible. 4th row: ???, Wayne Antisdel, Joe Brown, and Ronald (Bud) Cook. The batboy is believed to be young Hi Taylor.

Identification by Barry Brown, Tink Brown and Carol Cook.

I recently acquired a postcard from ca. 1920 that shows a baseball team with "W. Warren" on their uniforms. Their armbands read "Div. 26" or "Div. 28." I thought that the "W." most likely stood for "West," and while doing a web search, I came across a photo on the Tri-Counties site of the 1948 West Warren team there in Bradford County. Can someone tell me how far back the team went? Were they around in the late teens and early 1920s? I would be glad to submit a scan of this photo if it would be helpful.

Thank you.
Jane Lyle (in Indiana)

Note from Joyce - I do not think this is our West Warren, investigation needed. Uniforms too fancy for farm boys. Buildings in background defintely not local.

Joyce,

I agree with you.  None of these faces look vaguely familiar and I've never seen buildings like these in Bradford County.  The DIV (ision) 26 patches on their sleeves may be a clue to where they are from but I'm not sure how to find that information. If I can locate Barry Brown's email address, I'll send this to him for his opinion.
