1960 view of Mansfield High School. Front section , formerly the gym - converted to auditorium, was built about 1927 attached to the old Brick School. In 1939, the Brick School was torn down and the new school built surrounding the central gym. The 1939 section on left became the Junior High School in the fall of 1959, and the High School is the new part on the right. |

LONNY MATTHEW KNOWLTON, age 53 of Tarpon Springs, FL, formerly of Mansfield, PA and Corning, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 2, 2016 at home. He was born May 11, 1963 to Harold and Sandra Hulslander Knowlton. Lonny was born and raised in Mansfield, PA graduating from Mansfield Jr/Sr High School in 1981. Lonny then lived in many places, but finally found the home he always wanted; a nice home overlooking the water in Tarpon Springs, FL. Lonny made many friends throughout his life. To know Lonny, was to love him. He will be remembered as a kind man, a sweet man, and a generous man. Lonny could be friends with anyone, especially someone who needed the support of a genuine friend.Lonny always had a strong work ethic. Lonny spent most of his life working in the restaurant business, he worked in almost every aspect of food service, but enjoyed the interaction with customers most. When Lonny wasn't working, or spending time with friends he enjoyed reading a good book, usually a historical book and sometimes mystery novels. Most of all he loved the water, it was very peaceful for him. He is survived by his partner: Dwayne Billups of Tarpon Springs, FL, mother: Sandra Knowlton Van Zile of Corning, NY; brother: Rob Knowlton of Mansfield, PA; sister: Tammy Knowlton of Virginia Beach, VA; 5 nieces and nephews: Ryan and Daniel Knowlton, Paige, Hali, and Schuyler Nebrig.Lonny was predeceased by his father, Harold Knowlton in 2007; paternal grandparents Richard and Dorothea Knowlton; maternal grandmother: Juanita Hulslander; step-father: Thomas L. Lynn – Gaye Lynn Snyder, 40, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 13,
2004 at home. Born Sept. 26, 1963 in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of Leonard
and Elizabeth “Betty” Snyder. She was a 1981 graduate of Mansfield Junior/Senior
High School and was currently attending Mansfield University. Surviving beside
her mother Elizabeth “Betty” Snyder of Mansfield, are a daughter, Ashley Smith
of Mansfield; brother, Daniel ‘Danny” Snyder of Mansfield; sister and
brother-in-law, Carolyn ‘Karrie” and John Husted of Pine Hurst, NC; paternal
grandmother, Lillian Snyder of Mansfield; two nephews, Mitchell Snyder, Colby
Husted; niece, Tyler Husted; aunts and uncles. A private viewing and funeral
service was held today, Wednesday, June 16 at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral
Chapel, Mansfield with the Rev. Canon Rudolph van der Hiel officiating. Burial
was made I Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be directed
for the Ashley Smith Educational Fund in care of First Citizens Bank, 15 S. Main

MAINESBURG - Todd D. Tice, 28, of Mainesburg RD 1, died Friday, July 31, 1992. He was a dairy farmer. Born Oct. 11, 1963, in Bloss-burg, he was a son of Harold and Shirley Willson Tice. Surviving, besides his parents, are a daughter, Brandie Catherine Tice, of Gardner, Mass.; a sister, Karen Tice, of Townsend, Mass.; three brothers, Jeffrey, of Rochester, N.Y., and Thomas and Stephen, both of this community; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence Tice, of this community, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Eva Clarkson, of Covington. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at New Covenant Church, 810 Extension Street, Mansfield, with the Rev. Doug-las B. Wiley, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Grey Valley Cemetery, here. There will be no visitation.
