Mansfield High School Class of 1972
1960 view of Mansfield High School. Front section , formerly the gym - converted to auditorium, was built about 1927 attached to the old Brick School. In 1939, the Brick School was torn down and the new school built surrounding the central gym. The 1939 section  on left became the Junior High School in the fall of 1959, and the High School is the new part on the right.

STAN O. HEAPS
Stan Otto Heaps, 43, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Mansfield, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, in Denver, Colo. Born Aug. 20, 1954, in
Renovo, he was the son of John and Claire Heaps. He entered the Mansfield schools, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1972.  He graduated from Mansfield State College in 1976 and received a master's degree in history from Mansfield University in 1978. He married Stephanie Kelly on July 3, 1980, in Dallas, Texas. He was an outstanding athlete and coach with a lifelong interest in all sports, serving youth programs in Mansfield. As an analyst for the National Security Agency, he served five years in England with the Department of Defense where he taught history for the University of Maryland and served as player/coach for base basketball and baseball teams. He was employed sports information for the Dallas Blackhawks hockey team from 1979 to 1980; worked as a sports reporter at the Garland Daily News from 1980 to 1981; and worked as a sports reporter at the Post Journal, Jamestown, NY, from 1981 to 1983.  From 1983 to 1987, he was in US Army Intelligence and had served as an agent in the National Security Agency since 1988.  He once briefed General Schwartzhopff on unit operations. Surviving are his wife, Stephanie; one son, Lance Heaps, at home; one daughter, Alyssa Heaps; at home; his parents, John and Claire Heaps of Mansfield; one brother, Curtis Heaps of Mansfield; and one sister, Julie Heaps of Mansfield. Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Olinger Sixteenth Street Chapel, Denver, Colo. Burial will be made at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Colo. JENKINS, Gary Lee - Gary Lee Jenkins, age 62, a life resident of Mansfield, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Troy Community Hospital, Troy, PA. He was born July 10, 1954 in Blossburg, PA, the only son of Stuart C. and Lorraine (Rought) Jenkins. Gary was the devoted husband of Pamela (Dyer) Jenkins. He was a member and Elder of the Grace Community Church and together with his wife founded Recovery Revolution. Gary enjoyed watching NCIS and Criminal Minds, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, landscaping, coaching baseball, and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He liked picking blueberries on his 50 – 3rd generation blueberry bushes and spending time with his canine friends, Shelby, Ella, Chloe; and feline friends, Chance, Riley and Bailey. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Janet Smith, Billy and Heather Smith, both of Bloomville, NY, Corey and Jenna Jenkins of Mansfield, PA; six grandchildren, Paige and Skye Jenkins, William, Evan, Emma and Anna Smith, and his best friend of 59 years, Phil Adams of Mansfield, PA. He was predeceased by a son, Cody Allen Jenkins September 14, 2013. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Covington Baptist Church, Covington, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Community Church, P O Box 91, Troy, PA 16947. Burial will be in Bullock Road Cemetery. - Mansfield Gazette, 22 June 2017
