Mansfield High School Graduates 1965
1960 view of Mansfield High School. Front section , formerly the gym - converted to auditorium, was built about 1927 attached to the old Brick School. In 1939, the Brick School was torn down and the new school built surrounding the central gym. The 1939 section  on left became the Junior High School in the fall of 1959, and the High School is the new part on the right.

I was looking at your class listings for Mansfield High School, and looked for my father's name under the class of 1965 and could not find it.  His name is Joseph R. Walker (Al Walker's brother).  Not sure if he was not in the yearbook, but has been to his reunions including this year's.

BENTLEY - Richard Lee Bentley, [SRGP 77847] age 62, of Mansfield, PA, died
Friday, May 7th, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 5, 1947, a son of Margaret Jane Welch Bentley (father predeceased, Donald Earl Bentley). Richard was owner of Bentley's Auto Mart for 11 years, an avid elk hunter, golfer and animal lover. He will be remembered for his love of life. His smile and sense of humor brightened everyone's day. No one ever left his presence without a smile. Survived by his wife, Diane Robinson Bentley; children, Chad (and Jennifer) Bentley, Portland, Oregon, Brian Bentley of Spokane, Washington, Ted (Carla) Fuller of Middlebury Center; siblings, Donna K. Davey (Richard), Mansfield, PA, Duane L. Bentley (Diane), Ignacio, Colorado, Donald Dean Bentley, Mainesburg, PA, Harry Robinson (Mary Jo predeceased), Wellsboro, PA, David Robinson (Diana), Wellsboro, PA; grandchildren, Noah, Matt, McKayla, Darcy and Bailey; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, May 16th, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at his church, the State Road Baptist Church in Mainesburg, PA 16932. The family will provide any flowers. BERGUSON Paul D. M.D.Paul D. Berguson, M.D.
66, of Drums, died Wednesday evening, July 31, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Allentown, after a lengthy illness. Born in Blossburg, PA. on July 1, 1947, he was the son of Iris (Strong) Berguson, of Mansfield, and the late Walter B. Berguson. Dr. Berguson graduated from Mansfield High School in 1965. He graduated from Mansfield State College with a B.A. in Chemistry in 1968. He attended graduate school in biochemistry at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Institute and earned his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College in 1975. He finished his residency in anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 1978. He held licenses to practice medicine in Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, and West Germany. Paul was a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at N.Y.U. He was a staff anesthesiologist at the Benedikt Kreutz Rehabilitation Center in Bad Krozingen, West Germany, and spoke fluent German. He was on the staffs of other hospitals, including Soldiers and Sailors in Wellsboro, Divine Providence in Williamsport, Miners Memorial in Coaldale, and the Hazleton General Hospital. He authored and presented a number of papers in the field of anesthesiology and had an interest in pain management. In the treatment of patients he was compassionate, skillful, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. He was dedicated to the practice of medicine. A member of MENSA, he was extremely intelligent and informed on many and diverse subjects and a great conversationalist. His generosity to his family, friends, and patients knew no bounds. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Bruce W. Berguson, Mansfield, his sister, Deidre E. Jago, Venice, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in the Mansfield area at the convenience of the family. The Harman Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. BOYDEN, Flynn Milton - Flynn Milton Boyden, 67, of Mansfield, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, in the Corning Hospital, Corning, N.Y. Born on May 16, 1947, in Wellsboro, he was the son of Charles H. and Mary Bette (Lawrence) Boyden. Flynn was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann Boyden.Prior to his retirement, Flynn was employed as a heavy equipment operator with House Wood Products Company. He was a United States Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War. Flynn was a member of the Mansfield V.F.W. and enjoyed carpentry, mowing the lawn in the trailer park and was a handyman.Flynn is survived by his mother, Bette Boyden; his fiancé, Darlene Dickinson of Mansfield; two daughters, Shelley and Mary; two step-daughters, Kim (Fred) Bolt of Mansfield, Teresa (Eric) Cowan of Covington; one step-son, Thomas (Liz) Tracy of Lawrenceville; three brothers, James (Donna) Boyden of Mainesburg, John Boyden of New Mexico, Bill Boyden of Mainesburg; one sister, Donna (John) Elsbree of Troy; his fiance's children, John (Diane) Ritchie of Covington, Joshua (Jen) Ritchie of Blossburg, Mary (Ernest) Maines of Covington, John Dickinson of Mansfield, Melissa Dickinson of Covington; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. In addition to his wife, Patricia, Flynn was also predeceased by his father, Charles Boyden.Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, July 5, from 9 to 10 a.m., at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 637 S. Obituary for Marie Cunningham Blanchard

CUNNINGHAM, Marie [SRGP 79760]
Marie Cunningham Blanchard, age 70, of West Liberty, KY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at the St. Claire Regional Hospital, in Morehead, KY.
She was born on April 19, 1947, in Blossburg, PA, daughter of the late John W. Cunningham and Marie Dann Cunningham.
She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1965 in Mansfield, PA, and from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 1968, with a bachelor’s degree in math and a secondary degree in elementary education. She later earned an associate degree in architecture from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, GA.
Following graduation from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, she worked for IBM as a Systems Engineer for 10 years before retiring to start a family. She home-schooled her children. She volunteered at Holy Family Catholic Church in Marietta, GA, as a Sunday School teacher and as an 8th grade coordinator during the time her children attended Sunday School.
She continued her passion for teaching when she organized weeklong summer camps at the Woodland Community in rural Clairfield, TN, for 8 years. Marie enjoyed tutoring high school
students in math once her children graduated high school and were off on their own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Patrick, Stephen, Martin, Timothy and Michael.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wallace Blanchard, III, of West Liberty, KY, four children, John (Blue Marshall) of Roanoke, VA, Charlotte (Scott DeLong) of Gainesville, GA, Wallace, IV, of West Liberty, KY, and Tait (Kelly Ann Miller), who is currently serving in the US Army. Marie also has nine grandchildren, Rena, Denman, Landon, Gavin, Evan, Cameron, Madeline, Patrick and Finn, one sister, Catherine Seefeldt of Mifflinburg, PA, and two brothers, John Cunningham of Merrimack, NH, and Dan Cunningham of Flower Mound, TX, as well as sisters- and brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

GOODRICH, Carol [SRGP 88614] - DAMON  Carol (Goodrich) Age 58, of Camden Ave., Horseheads, died after a courageous battle with cancer at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005. Carol was born June 21, 1947 in Wellsboro, PA, the daughter of David Goodrich of Horseheads and the late Betty (Horton) Goodrich, who predeceased her in 1992. In addition to her father, David (Norma) Goodrich, Carol is survived by her husband, Patrick "Mike" Damon; son, Shawn Waters, also of Horseheads; and their dear canine companion, "Bandit." In addition to her father, Carol is also survived by her brothers, with their families, Glenn (Theresa) and Earl (Sharon) Goodrich of Mansfield, PA, Jerry (Dorothy) Goodrich of Oakhurst, NJ, Rick (Jackie) Goodrich of Lowman, NY, Greg (Maggie) Goodrich of Elmira Heights, NY. Carol is also survived by her husband; Mike's family; his sons, with their families, Kenneth (Julienne) Damon of Richford, NY, Margaret Striley of Elmira, NY, Mark (Nanette) Damon of Fountain, CO cousin, Lori Burlingame of Elmira, NY; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one aunt and one uncle; and several, nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol was a dedicated member of Elmwood Ave. Baptist Church. She was a member of the Acolyte Group, Church Choir and was a trustee for the church. She was also an avid bowler and lover of various crafts, including quilting. Carol was a Lab Technician for Eastern Laboratory Services in South Waverly, PA, as well as a hairdresser where she worked from her home. A devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, Carol was a strong Do-it-yourselfer, lending a hand to anyone in need. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, NY, on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 p.m. Her service will be celebrated in Elmwood Baptist Church, 230 Elmwood Ave., Elmira Heights, NY, on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. SCHIRMER, Linda [SRGP 14378] - Miss Linda Schirmer, 17, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frederick Schirmer of 71 Extension St., died shortly before noon Tuesday Feb. 9, 1965 at Blossburg State Hospital from hepatitis complications. Miss Schirmer, an honor student in the college preparatory program, was a senior at Mansfield High School. She was a member of the Mansfield Methodist Church. Although she started classes in the fall, her illness created frequent absences. Last week she was transferred to Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. On Monday she was admitted to the Blossburg Hospital. Surviving in addition to her parents are sister, Katherine, at home and several aunts and uncles. The body is at the Shaw & Robena Funeral Home where friends may call Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be in the Mansfield Methodist Church on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. SHAW, Michael D. - Michael D. Shaw, 69, formerly of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at Towanda Hospital. He was born March 16, 1947, in Blossburg, the son of Seymour and Gertrude Finch Shaw. Michael was a United States Air Force veteran, and was employed as a computer programmer at the United States Navy Depot, Mechanicsburg. Michael was a graduate of Mansfield High School Class of 1965, and Penn State University. He was a member of Phi Eta Sigma. Michael is survived by his step-mother, Marie Shaw of Mansfield, three sisters, Karen Burris of Covington, Maureen Shaw of Bloomsburg, Jennifer Kinsey of Covington; his brother, John Shaw of Madison, Ala.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private burial service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield. Memorial donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Mansfield Ambulance Association, 381 S. TROWBRIDGE - MATTESON, Cheryl T.
Age 62, of Tioga, PA, died December 5, 2009, at home. She was born May 12, 1947, in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle Smith Trowbridge. Cheryl was a retired teacher at Williamson Jr. Sr. High School and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lawrenceville, PA. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 42 years, Carl; her mother, Myrtle Trowbridge Kennedy of Burlington, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Karen Matteson of Corning, NY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Gary Tas of Painted Post, NY, Kelly and Roger Sherman of Covington, PA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Lee Trowbridge of Wellsboro, PA, Donald and Brenda Trowbridge of Blossburg, PA; and six grandchildren. VANNOY Byron L. 59, of Covington, PA, died January 24, 2007 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. He was born May 12, 1947 in Wellsboro, PA, the son of Raymond and Henrietta Bohlayer VanNoy. Byron was an Army Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart from the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Mansfield VFW Post #6757, the Arnot Sportsmans Club, a past President of the Mansfield Lions Club, and a former member of the Canton Moose. In addition to his mother of Wellsboro, PA, Byron is survived by his friend and companion, Joann Wemesfelder of Covington; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Tina VanNoy of Windsor, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jeffrey Farrell of Mansfield, PA; four grandchildren, Hunter and Martina VanNoy, R.J. and Jolyn Farrell; two sisters, Linda Thomas of Hornell, NY, Judy VanNoy of Lewisburg, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Byron was predeceased by his father, and a brother, William. Friends are invited to call at the Gary W. Wilston Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 130 S.
