Mr. & Mrs. Ambrose “Bucky” Decker have leased the Windmill Service Station at Mainesburg, which has been closed for several years. They will renovate the building and reopen for business soon. Besides gas and oil, they will have for sale ice cream,, soft drinks, candy and other merchandise. Mr. Decker is a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and recently graduated from the Jean Summers Business School in Elmira. He served overseas during World War II.
DECKER - Ambrose [Bucky] Decker, age 65 of 1 Rue DeLa Fossette,
14520 Port en Bessin, France formerly of Mansfield died on Friday, April
24, 1987 after an extended illness. He was a World War II Veteran. He is
survived by his wife, Mrs. Jacquelyn Decker; mother, Ada Decker of Mansfield;
three daughters, Carole Gile of Gainesville, Fla., Corine Pavagean and
Cassia Leprieur of France; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dora
Rarrick of Horseheads, NY, Mrs. Audrey Tomb of Ellisburg, PA and Mrs. Barbara
Keegan of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Cleo Decker of Oxford, NY and Walter
Decker of Jermyn, PA; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were

LOVELAND - KITTY WILSON
Kitty Wilson, 78, of Blossburg died peacefully Friday, Feb. 27, 2004
at her daughter's home in Blossburg. Born Sept. 19, 1925, she was the daughter
of Fred and Kathryn Irvin Loveland. She was a graduate of Mansfield High
School, class of 1943. She later attended Mansfield State Teachers College
and graduated in 1947 with a degree in elementary education. Earlier she
taught in Campbell, N.Y. for several years. On April 10, 1955 she married
Thomas Wilson, Jr. and together they shared 25 years of marriage. Her beloved
Thomas preceded her in death in May of 1980. Following her marriage, she
served as a devoted teacher for many years at Blossburg Elementary until
her retirement in 1986. Kitty loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was an avid sports enthusiast and was her grandchildren's and their
friends biggest fan. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by
a brother, James. Surviving are two children, Thomas (Sharon) Wilson of
South Williamsport, Susan (Wesley) Kacynski of Blossburg; grandchildren,
Kyle Wilson, Sean and Tesia Kaczynski; sister, Jane (Ronald) Day of Mansfield;
sister-in-law, Bonnie Loveland of Wellsboro; several nieces, nephews and
cousins. Friends called at the Zwicharowski Funeral Home, Blossburg on
Monday, March 1. Services were held Tuesday, March 2 at the Blossburg Methodist
Church. Burial was made at Arbon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to
Laurel Home Hospice, 24 Walnut St.,

McCONNELL – MARGERY L. McCONNELL STONE, 70, of Troy RR 1, and
Riverview, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 22, 1995, in Florence, SC. Born July
18, 1925 in Richmond Township, she was the daughter of Wade and Gertrude
Cruttenden McConnell. She was a member of the Covington Church of Christ
and a former employee at First Citizens National Bank, Mansfield. Surviving
are a son, Jack A. Stone of Mansfield; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Widger of
Virginia Beach, VA; five grandsons; four step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters;
three great-grandsons and several cousins. Calling hours were held Tuesday,
Dec. 26, at the Scureman Funeral Home, Mansfield. Funeral services were
held there Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 10 am. The Rev. Ira Hindman officiated.
Burial was made in the Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield.
–South Carolina Accident Claims Troy Couple. Carl Stone,
77 and his wife Margery, 70 of Troy were killed as they were walking across
US Route 76, Florence, SC on December 22, 1995. The couple had eaten
dinner and were returning to their motel when they were struck by a passing
car. South Carolina police report both victims were dead upon arrival
at a local hospital. According to reports, the couple were clad in
dark clothes and the driver of the oncoming vehicle could not see them
in the setting sun
MAKLEY
Grant Age 80, of Gulick St., Blossburg, died Wednesday, April
5, 2006, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Born January 31, 1926 in
Covington, the son of the late Frank and Ina Harvey Makley. Mr. Makley
married the former Helen Patt who preceded him in death in 1994. Mr. Makley
served with the US Army during WWII having fought in the battle of Ardennes
Central Europe Rhineland. While in the service he received the following
medals: Eame Campaign, Good Conduct, World War II Victory and Army Occupation
Medal. Grant was retired from Ward Manufacturing after 45 years as a machine
operator. He was a member of Theodore Roosevelt American Legion Post #
167 Morris Run and Hillside Rod and Gun Club, Blossburg. Surviving relatives
include a son, David Makley, Wellsboro; daughter-in-law, Patricia Makley,
Blossburg; stepdaughters, Rose (Michael) Mitchell, Elmira, NY, Kay (William)
Myers, Lakeville, MN, and Debbie (Greg) Harding, Mainesburg; stepsons,
Robert Padleski, Las Vegas, NV, and Ronald Padleski and Hazel Tarbox (significant
other) Blossburg; grandson, Larry Makley, Blossburg; granddaughter Sherry
(Gary) Earl, Long Island, NY; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Logan and
Nathan Makley, Blossburg and Dylan Earl, Long Island, NY; ten step grandchildren;
eight step great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Judy) Makley, Covington,
and Olin (Judy) Makley, Beaver; sister-in-law, Martha Makley, Wellsboro.
Mr. Makley was predeceased by his parents; wife, Helen Makley; brother,
Elwin Makley; sons, Roger and Larry Makley; and a grandson, Travis Makley.
Family and friends will be received at the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg,
Monday, April 10, 2006, from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2
p.m. with Rev. Raymond Forsythe officiating. Interment will follow at State
Road Cemetery, Mainesburg. Full Military Honors will be accorded by Theodore
Roosevelt American Legion Post #167, Morris Run, William B. Wilson American
Legion Post #572, Blossburg, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Supreme Sacrifice
Post #8730, Blossburg.

SCHANBACHER - Pauline Schanbacher Bradshaw, 78, of Mansfield, died peacefully at home on Nov. 25, 2003. She was born May 16, 1925, in Blossburg, the daughter of Orville and Martha Rauscher Schanbacher. Pauline was a retired case worker supervisor for Tioga County Children’s Services. She was a graduate of Mansfield State Teachers College and a former member of the Mansfield University Alumni Board. Pauline was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church, the Mansfield Lions Club, the Garden Club and the Glen Region Sports Car Club of America. Pauline is survived by her husband of 57 years, William; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bobby Jo and Ronald Milton of Naples, N.Y. and Patti Lynn Bradshaw of New York City, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Yvonne Bradshaw of Hazleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Ferne Schanbacher of Mansfield; two sisters, Joyce Gilbert of Hamden, Conn., Genevieve Stone of Micanopy, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Anna Schanbacher of VanEtten, N.Y. and Tweet Schanbacher of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Forrest (Susan) Milton of Holcomb, N.Y., Nicole, Jonathan and Samantha Bradshaw of Hazleton; and two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Bethany Milton of Holcomb, N.Y. There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Canon Rudolph vander Hiel, Saturday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m., at St. James Episcopal Church, Mansfield. SMITH - Duane R. Smith, [SRGP 26473] 85, of New York, N.Y., died on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, N.Y. Duane was born on May 4, 1924, in Corry, the son of Harry L. and Mary Jaquish Smith. Prior to his retirement, Duane was employed as a registered nurse with St. Vincent 's Hospital in New York. He was a member of St. Clements Episcopal Church in New York, N.Y. Duane served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving numerous medals and awards. He enjoyed the Martha Graham Dance Theatre, where he frequently performed; Broadway shows and old black and white movies. Duane is survived by the following cousins, Dorothy J. Michaels of Blossburg, Richard (Joanne) Marvin of Covington, Russell Marvin of Covington, Sara Marvin (Michael) Lord of Selinsgrove and Jan Marvin of Covington. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, Crematory and Monuments, PC 637 S. Main Street, Mansfield. WILCOX, Alfred W., Jr. - Alfred W. Wilcox Jr., age 93, of Covington, PA, died Friday, November 9, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born May 18, 1925 in Covington, PA to Alfred Sr. and Mabel (Wood) Wilcox. Alfred was the husband of the late Maxine Wilcox with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage. He was a member of the Covington Church of Christ. Alfred is survived by 2 sons, George (Brenda) Wilcox of Millville, PA, Samie (Sharon Kendrick) Wilcox of Covington, PA, 5 grandchildren Samantha (Jerry Ogden) Wilcox, Daniel (Stefania) Wilcox, Christie (Paul) Blackwell, Kasey (Joshua) Mastellar, Trisha Wilcox. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 16, 2016, a son Arthur Lloyd Wilcox on September 14, 1986 and a daughter in-law Christine Wilcox on April 11, 2015. on Monday, September 19, 2005. Mirabel is survived by her husband,
Alden B. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Clayton Rash of Belcamp,
MD; brothers, Charles Young of Baltimore, MD, Bruce Young of Corning, NY;
two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited
to call at the Scureman Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2005, from
12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held immediately
following visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joel Kershner officiating.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
