Subj: SB Elliott
Date: 01/07/2004 9:29:31 AM Eastern Standard Time From: erensel@state.pa.us (Rensel, Eric) To: JoyceTice@aol.com Joyce Tice, I am researching the history of the Honorable Simon B. Elliott. I work at Parker Dam State Park and Simon B. Elliott State Park located in Northern Clearfield County. When I did a search on the name I got a hit concerning a historical address by Elliott in Mansfield in 1890. I also got another hit on some buildings named for him in Mansfield. We have next to nothing of information about the man, other than he was a member of the PA legislature and a member of the old State Forestry Reservation Commission, and that he promoted the idea of creating a nursery to raise trees for planting in the surrounding area. SB Elliott State Park is directly adjacent to the old Dague Nursery. I have two photos from the PA archives of Elliott: One a portrait and the other of him standing with Joseph T. Rothrock. I would be willing to share these photos with your organization if you would like. Do you have any additional information on the man? Eric Rensel - EES (Environmental Education Specialist)

Joyce,
I have another one that I will be sending as well. Need to move it around to this computer so I can send it. It is a bust.
I also recently got hold of a book by SBE, "The Important Timber Trees of the United States", 1912. A nice work. SBE was living in Reynoldsville, PA at the time of publication.

Dear Joyce,
Simon Bolivar Elliott is my great great grandfather.
Here is the line. His daughter Ada married F.M. Brown of Reynoldsville.
Their oldest daughter Inez married Thomas F. Adam and had one child Alan
Brown Adam born February 1913. Alan was my father, who had two children
by different marraiges. I was born November 4, 1951 in Stamford Connecticut.
My mother is Barbara Ann Thorndike Adam born in 1927. My half sister Linda
Adam Childrers' mother was named Ruth. Alan Adam died in 1989.
We have quite a lot of information about S.B. Elliott
but would appreciate you sharing what you have.
Thanks,
David Adam
