Ruth HOLLY with children Harold MUDGE and Helen MUDGE in front of their house on Gray Valley Road at Elk Run in late 1910s.This is the original homestead of Lucy BRONSON and Amos MUDGE whose house was on the other side of the road from this one. This house was probably built by Menzo Mudge and one of his wives, Stella WELCH or Ruth HOLLY. It remained in the MUDGE Family until Uncle Harold died in 1954. Both my grandmother, Mildred MUDGE, and my great grandfather, Menzo MUDGE were born on and grew up on this property. Following Uncle Harold's death, Aunt Nellie sold the farm to Hazel and Jack Toothaker. They sold it to the Slaymaker family. |

This is my Great Uncle, Harold Mudge, in front of one of the barns. This barn stood where the present day barn stands, but it burned to the ground in the 1920s. |
In this photo, taken 1997, Joyce M. Tice, great granddaughter of Ruth HOLLY and Menzo MUDGE sits on the stone wall that was built when Amos MUDGE and Lucy BRONSON farmed here. |

In the photo at left, taken by Joan NASH O'Dell in 1996, the former Mudge Farm can be seen from behind the buildings. This was taken from Route 6. |
