McKinley had been elected president when Lafe Gray and his second wife, Aletta Rockwell, were photographed on their porch. The house was built by Lafe's parents, James Edson Gray and Lura Miller. Lafayette died 1903 In 2002, John Gray Strange, a great grandson of Lafe, and a retired Corps of Engineers Army Major, lives in the house. 2002 Photos by Joyce M .Tice.
