Simon F. Florey, son of Simeon Florey and unknown was born 05 Mar 1850
in Maryland (according to the 1900 census) and died perhaps in 1932 at
the Tioga County Home.
He married Lavina Hogancamp, daughter of Asa Hogancamp and Olive Strait,
b. 07 Jul 1856 possibly in Wayne County PA (most Hogancamp children were
born in Chemung County NY).
Si and Viney were tenant farmers, and appear to have spent most of
their married life in Sullivan Twp. According to Jean Welch Mudge,
they lived not far from her family farm.
Their only child, my grandfather Charles or William Florey, was born
ca 1879-80 in Trout Run Lycoming County, and was raised by a Minister Fuller
in Little Marsh, PA.
Si and Viney spent the last years of their life in the Tioga County
Home and are buried in unmarked graves on the grounds.
Lavina's brother, William Hovencamp, lived in Union Twp and is buried
at Roaring Branch. Her brother Dan was a Union veteran who never
married and worked in the 3-county area as a woodsman and farm laborer.
Her sister Betsey married Matthias Hogencamp and he married another cousin
Elmira Hogencamp after Betsey's death. They lived in Elmira NY.
Asa, Dan and Matthias Hogancamp all served in the same Civil War company.
Si and Viney did live in Sullivan Twp for decades.
