She married Alvah Gray. (Alvah Gray is #11358.) Alvah
was born 1831 in Pennsylvania. Alvah was the son of Alford Gray and
Anna Pettibone. Alvah died in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania,
at age unknown.
As an older man, he was confined to a wheelchair. The walnut
chair remains in the cellar of the McConnel home. It had casters on it
to wheel Alvah around when he was cared for by Lib after the death of Tine
in 1903. He is probably buried in the Wood Cemetery, but we have not located
a stone, nor do we have a date for his death.
Alvah was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Tine and her husband, Alvah, lived next door to her sister, Mary. Tine also was living on a property adjacent to her parents and given to her by them. Tine's house is still present and in good condition (2002).
Alvah was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Tine and Alvah lived at top of the hill south of Elk Run on property given by her parents. Twenty year old Emery Goodrich in household as Laborer.
Alvah was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Alvah was listed in a directory in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1899. Gray Alvah (Elk Run) r 18, farmer, 60 acres Alvah worked as mason. He is mentioned in that context in both the Sadie Monroe and Emerson Smith diaries. He was a mason, as was his father, and was blinded from the lime he used for mortar. We are fortunate to have a tinetype of Alvah in his work clothes holding up his mortars.
