 First Generation

  1.  Rosebell1 York, daughter of Galusha Elyon York and Mary Amanda Moore, (#4144) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 30 OCT 1861.  Individual flags: Obituary.  Rosebell died 01 Mar 1882 in Elk Run, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 20.  Her body was interred MAR 1882 in Wood Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.

 She married Edgar Jones  ABT 1878.  (Edgar Jones is #25453.)  Edgar was born 1857 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.  Edgar was the son of Granville Jones* and Caroline Hurd.  He married Alice Mary York ABT 1882.  Wellsboro Agitator Mar. 14 1882 - Died - A Mainesburg correspondent says that Mrs. Rosabella Jones, dau. of Galusha York, was found dead at her home near Chandlersburg in Sullivan twp, on the 1st inst. She appeared as well as usual in the morning, got dinner and did up her work. Her husband went out just before she had finished washing the dishes, and when he returned about dark he heard his little boy, 3 yrs. old crying. There was no fire, and he asked the child where his mother was. He answered, "Ma is in the buttery on the floor, and she won't come out at all." There she was found on her knees, her chin resting on a shelf, and perfectly dead. Mr. Jones aroused the neighbors and sent for a physician, but his services were of no avail. He attributed the lady's death to heart disease. She was 21 years of age.

      Rosebell York and Edgar Jones had the following child:

Note from Joyce - Following the death of Rosebell, Edgar married her sister Alice who also died. The two young women are buried side by side in the Wood Cemetery. If anyone knows anything further of Edgar Jones, I'd be grateful to receive that information.
