Mary GODBEY Bailey of Mansfield ran the Mansfield Advertiser for many years with her husband, Chester P. Bailey. Both were active in many community events as well. Mary also served as Mansfield's correspondent for both the Elmira and Williamsport papers. Following is a brief article about her from the 1957 Elmira paper. She and Chester are retired and live in Mansfield. Photo at right by Joyce M.  MANSFIELD--Newspaper work is not new to Mrs. Mary G. Bailey the Mansfield reporter for the Elmira newspapers.
 Mrs. Bailey began her newspaper work soon after graduating from the University of Kentucky.  She edited a hobby column in a daily paper at Petersburg, Va., while her husband, Chester P. Bailey, was stationed at near-by Fort Lee, from 1941 to 1945.
 Mrs. Bailey, a native of Kentucky, has lived in Mansfield about nine years, where she is associated with her husband in editing the Mansfield Advertiser. They have two children, Barbara, 14, and Paul, 12.
 Mrs. Bailey taught fine arts in the Louisville, Ky., public schools and it was there that she and Mr. Bailey, a native of Mansfield, met.
 Mrs. Bailey is president of the Mansfield Parent-Teacher Assn., past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and active in many community affairs.  She and Mr. Bailey are co-chairmen of the Mansfield Centennial celebration being planned in July.
 Mrs. Bailey's hobbies are painting and stamp collecting.
 Mrs. Bailey has been a reporter for the Elmira papers for about four years, having taken over the post at the retirement of the late Miss Glenna Wilson.
