1890s Weekend 2006 |
Chester and Mary Bailey, former owners
and editors of the Mansfield Advertiser, founded the Fabulous 1890s Museum.
The museum tent incudes displays of Chester's extensive photo collection,
as well as displays on Grange artifacts, railroad artifacts, and
wool spinning display. Displays vary from year to year. For the first time
this year, I put on two computerized photo slide shows. Unfortunately there
was so much going on I forgot to take a good picture of my display. I also
forgot to take a picture of Chester and Mary so I am using a photo of them
in the musum tent in 2001.
I will present here some of the photos I took of the 1890s Day 2006 celebration September 29 and 30. |
This school bus was used on State Road in Sullivan Township and is part of the 1890s Display. It is mislabelled as a Mainesburg School bus, but it was used outside the village instead, as far as I know.. | This is embarrassing but this is the only photo I took of my display early on the second day when my camera lens was fogged over from the cold. I intended to take one later when there were people around and a dry lens, but got distracted. I showed 330 Mansfield photos in one program - from 1855 to 2006 and 200 photos in the other of Smythe Park, The Mansfield Fair and all the schools. The first show also ran in the First Citizens Bank for the two days. |

Balloon Rides are a popular activity. Barb BAILEY McConnell is in one of these and enjoyed her ride out to the golf course. | Mansfield University band led the parade. Williamson, Liberty and Mansfield High School bands were also in the parade. |
