Hi Joyce,
I noticed you don't have a representative photo for the Lease Studio
in Sayre, PA. Please allow me to contribute this baby picture of
my cousin, Newton M. Drake, b. 15 October 1926 in Ulster, PA and d. 7 Feb
1945 in Chicago, IL. I've also attached one of him in his Navy uniform.
Newton was the son of Francis Drake and Eleanor Merrill Drake of Ulster.
He was Valedictorian of his High School Class, Ulster, PA 1944. Newton
died of old fashioned quinzy while attending the V-12 Officers Training
Program at the US Navy Training Center at Chicago, IL. He had written everyday
to his Mother while away from home. Francis and Eleanor sat bolt upright
in bed at 3:00am on 2/7/1945 hearing bugles. Dr. and Mrs. Lyons later
came to the house later that day to give them word of Newton's death at
3:00am.
Francis, Eleanor and Newton are buried in the Ulster Cemetery.
