McCAUSLAND - William A. McCausland, ages 67, MSTC trustee and prominent
business man died unexpectedly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Agnes
Manser Tuesday. Mr. McCausland had been in poor health for about a month.
Born in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, September 9, 1869 he moved to Montrose
and then removed to Mansfield where he had since resided. He was united
in marriage to Miss Frances Capell of Mansfield in 1899. Mr. McCausland
had been identified with several local business enterprises during his
residence here. He was first associated with F. D. Bailey as photographer
and later with J. C. Gibson in the Men’s Clothing Store. For several years
he was proprietor of Mac’s Five and Ten Cent store and then went into partnership
with E. G. Cornwell in the management of the Star Theatre. His final business
venture was Mac’s Cut Rate Store, which he operated for the past several
years. A member of the Presbyterian Church, Mr. McCausland was active in
Friendship Lodge F&AM and since January had served as trustee at Mansfield
State Teachers College. Survivors include his daughter Mrs. Manser of Mansfield;
three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Jenckes of Holland , Mich.; Mrs. Janet Jenkins
and Mrs. Adeline Stoddard of Philadelphia and a brother, R. J. McCausland
of Montrose. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the home
of his daughter, Mrs. Agnes Manser. Dr. Arthur T. Belknap, acting president
of Mansfield State Teachers College and the Rev. John Bouquet, pastor of
the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be made in Prospect

BAILEY - Fred D. Bailey, aged 72 years, of Mansfield, died
at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at his home after an illness of two years.
He was born in Mansfield June 2, 1869, son of Robert and Julia Hager Bailey.
He was a member of the Mansfield Presbyterian church and since his retirement
from business in Binghamton in April 1941, he has resided at Mansfield.
In 1889 he married Miss Christine Smith, of Binghamton, and the couple
had two sons, Frederick C., of New York, and Richard, teacher at Drury
College, Springfield, MO. Mrs. [Christine] Bailey died in 1907. In 1930,
he married Miss Grace Cruttenden, who survives, with two sons and two brothers,
Elton L., and Clark E., of Elkland, and two grandchildren. Funeral services
were held yesterday, Rev. Lester Schaff, officiating; burial in Prospect
