Reading a series of obituaries from a single cemetery, as they are presented here, is like reading the multi-generational history of a community. These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. Please send in typed obituaries for people buried in our local cemeteries. If possible include name of newspaper and date. Send typed in your email or in attached Word files. Send to Joyce M. She was predeceased by her five Houston brothers, Erwin, Robb, Bill, Warren and Richard; sister, Jane Lampila. Winnie (as she was known to all) was a homemaker. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister and grandmother and she cherished each of those roles throughout her lie. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her home. She and her husband Bob, built their home in Southport and lived there together for over 60 years. Over the years she and Bob shared many travel adventures together making annual trips to Myrtle Beach and numerous trips throughout New England and the South. She looked forward to the frequent visits from her children and kept up on all the latest news of her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, reading, sitting on her patio, drinking tea in her kitchen and watching "her boys", the New York Mets on television. Winnie was loved by everyone who knew her and she was dearly loved and treasured by her children and grandchildren with whom she spent quality time creating many precious memories. We could not have asked for a better mother or grandmother. She was also a devoted wife to her beloved husband Bob, recently celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary together. It is impossible to measure how much we will all miss her smile, her laugh, her gentle way and her loving heart. Her greatest legacy is that she lived a life so well that she was loved and respected by all who knew her. All of Winnie's services will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
