Pennsylvania did not require the recording of marriages prior to 1885. There are many other pages on this site that compile earlier marriages from church and newspaper records. You can also use the partitioned search engine Marriage category o the Search page of the site to search just marriages. This utility will find marriages that happen to be in the marriage directory. It will not find marriages that are recorded elsewhere, so you'll want to use the Clippings partition also and the Families partition. There are also many included on Heverly that you can locate using the Heverly books partition. You can also check the Bibles section.
Once again, we thank Pat SMITH Raymond for her amazing commitment to helping us get these records transcribed and available with ease from any place in the world. This project also ensures that the one of a kind original records will not be lost. Pat died of an auto accident in 2023, but her work remains here.
I have sorted these so that you can check the surname column alphabetically by both the woman's surname and the man's surname. This means that each record will be listed here twice, once under her name and once under his.
