These pages are from the first NINETEEN books [so far] of the Bradford County PA Marriage Applications, and the project continues. Pennsylvania did not require the recording of marriages prior to 1885. Read it and believe it!!!

Joyce's Search Tip - January 2008 Do You Know that you can search just the Marriage Records and  Marriage Clippings on the site by using the Marriage button in the Partitioned search engine at the bottom of the Current What's New Page? Be aware that you will also find some marriage notices in the Clippings partition and on the Bibles pages.

There are many other pages on this site that compile earlier marriages from church and newspaper records. You can link to that on the Tri-Counties Marriage Page. You can also use the partitioned search engine Marriage category at the bottom of the current What's New Page of the site to search just marriages. This utility will find marriages that happen to be in the marriage directory. It will not find marriages that are recorded elsewhere, so you'll want to use the Clippings partition also and the Families partition. There are also many included on Heverly that you can locate using the Heverly partition. You can also check the Bibles section and the Churches section.

Be sure to scroll right for the book and page number of the original records on which an entry is found. The books themselves, although public property, are housed at the Bradford County Historical Society in Towanda rather than at the County Court House as they once were.

I have sorted these so that you can check the surname column alphabetically by both the woman's surname and the man's surname. This means that each record will be listed here twice, once under her name and once under his.

Married, February 13, 1911, at the Baptist parsonage, Springfield, by Rev. W.P. Hazeleton, John G. Barrett and Miss Deborah D. Capwell, the groom a resident of Springfield, and the bride of New Albany.  Note they were married by Rev. DD Campbell 3/7/1911. at the Methodist Church by Rev. D.D. Campbell.

Marriage licenses were issued Saturday to George Capwell of Meyersburg and Julia Angeline Teeter of New Albany.
