My Grandfather was born (1849),
lived and worked in Canton. He was a salesman and sold Sewing Machines,
Musical instruments and a washing machine or two. His Name was Theodore
Lionel Hill and was married to Isabel Prince Denmark. The house that they
lived in was built by Jesse Denmark's father. The Denmark's are from the
El Mira New York area.
My Great Grandfather was named Osborn Hill and was
married to Harriet Barrett. Osborns' father was James D. Hill and wife was
Lucy (unknown) born in Utah. My mother and all of her siblings were born
in Canton and up until 1943, Grandfathers' sister, Florence lived in Canton.
I have my Grandfathers' wallet which contains a number of sales slips,
contracts, etc. dating from 1891 through 1908. The family moved to
California probably about 1910. My Great Grandfathers' Sister, Christine
Hill, married Tracy O. Hollis. Hollis is the only name that I can locate in the
Bradford County history. There is a mention of James D. Hill being a
Deacon. I hesitate to load you with all of this trivia and I am not
requesting that you try to untangle or locate any of these people. I thought
that it was one more bit of info that could be tucked away in the historical
records.
