Will and Testament
of
A. S. Parsons
I A. S. Parsons of the Township of Columbia, County of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at anytime heretofore made. As to such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with. I dispose of the same as follows, viz:
First: I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my executors as soon as possible after my decease in the manner herinafter provided.
Item: I direct and devise to my daughter Emma E. Fogel, wife of Isaac Fogel of McKean County Pennsylvania my house and lot in Lock Haven said State being the same land conveyed to me by John W. Fleming, late Sheriff by deed recorded in Sheriff's Deed Book [?&] page 302. I also give and devise to my said daughter Emma E. Fogel all that certain land situated in the Township of Liberty, County of McKean , said State containing about thirteen acres conveyed to me by John G. ?H?all and wife by deed recorded in Deed Book Vol. 28 page 74 [?etc.] subject nevertheless to the payment of a certain mortgage now a lien against said premises: To have and to hold the said several tracts or parcels of land with the [?appurtenance] unto said Emma E. Fogel, her heirs and assigns forever. And when said mortgage is fully paid by the said Emma E. Fogel the same shall operate as full satisfaction and payment of the claims and obligations I hold against her husband the said Isaac Fogel. Also I give and bequeath to my said daughter Emma E. Fogel the sum of three hundred dollars payable three years from my decease without interest.
Item: I give and devise to Norman H. Hurlburt the use, improvement and income of a small parcel of land being the west corner of the Wood lot commencing in the centre of the road thence along the centre of the same north 34[deg] east 66 rods south 62[deg] west 4 rods, thence south 66[deg] east 4 rods and twenty two links, thence south 11[deg] west 11 rods and 11 links, thence north 86[deg] east 10 rods, thence west 27[deg] 12 rods & 16/100, thence north 83[deg] west 15 and 60/100 rods, thence north 8[deg] west 2/12 rods to the place of beginning, containing three acres more or less during the term of his natural life, thence to be fully complete and ended and at the decease of the said Norman H. Hurlburt[;] I give and devise said land with the appurtenances to Freddy Berry who has lived in my family since his infancy, in fee, If however the said Freddy Berry shall not be living at the decease of the said Norman H. Hurlburt, then and in such case I give and devise the said described tract or parcel of land to John Hurlburt son of the said Norman H. Hurlburt, to him, his heirs and assigns forever. Item: I also give and bequeath to the said Freddy Berry, to be paid when he arrives at the age of twenty one years the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars.
Item: To my son William A Parsons I give and devise all that certain
tract of land situate in South Creek Township said County of Bradford,
containing about
ninety six acres with the allowances and bounded North by the highway
leading from South Creek to Wells East by the Coe farm, west by lands
of the widow
Watkins and south by lands of G. [?F.] Vernier estate; To have and
to hold the same to him the said William A Parsons his heirs and assigns
forever, subject
nevertheless to the payment by him of the sum of one thousand dollars
within one year from and after my decease to my executors to be by them
used in paying debts and legacies and the payment of said sum is hereby
expressly charged upon said land[.]
Item: To my beloved wife Mandana, I give and devise all [all repeated]
that certain lot or parcel of land situate in the Township of Columbia,
aforesaid,
bounded north by lands of M. S. Parsons, east by the public highway,
south by lands of S. G. Gernert, and west by the Northern Central Railway
containing one hundred fifty three & 6/10 [?perches?], to have and
to hold the same to her and her heirs and assigns forever[.] I also
hereby expressly charge my homestead farm in said [Twsp.] of Columbia with
the support and maintenance of my said wife Mandana in sickness and in
health, during her life with the payment to her of twenty five dollars
annually in quarterly payments[.]
Item: I give and devise to my son Mahlon S. Parsons the use improvement
and income of the south one half of my homestead farm aforesaid, containing
seventy acres more or less whereon are situated my dwelling house and buildings
appurtenant thereto, also the sue of the undivided one half of the wood
lot not
hereinbefore disposed of for and during the term of his natural live
then to be completed and ended and at his decease I give and devise the
same to the children of said Mahlon S. Parsons, share and share alike to
them their heirs and assigns forever[.]
Item: I give and devise to my daughter Mary Patterson the use improvement
and income of the north one half of my said homestead farm containing about
seventy acres; also the use of the remaining undivided on half of my said
"wood lot' for and during the term of her natural life, then to fully completed
and ended and at her decease, I give and devise the same to the child with
which she is now pregnant & such other children [and such other children
repeated] as may be born to her the said Mary Patterson in fee simple forever.
This devise is made subjectto and the last above described is hereby expressly
charged with the
payment of the balance if any of the debts and legacies as may remain
unpaid after my personal estate, and the one thousand dollars to be paid
by my said
son William A Parsons has been exhausted. Provided however that
such charge shall not excdeed one thousand dollars; any deficiency in excess
of one thousand dollars is hereby expressly charged upon the south one
half of my homestead farm.
Item: I herby direct and authorize to erect a monument in my family
lot costing not less than two hundred dollars -- The said homestead farm
is devised in the
manner above set forth subject always to the provision made for my
said wife. Lastly, I do hereby make and ordain my son Mahlon S. Parsons
executor of this my last will and testament. On testimony whereof, I A.
S. Parsons the testator, have to this my last will and testament written
on two sheets of paper set my hand and seal the thirtieth day of October
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight.

subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the testator

Letters testamentary on the estate of A. S. Parsons late of Township
of Columbia, deceased, granted unto Mahlon S. Parsons he having first sworn
to administer upon said estate according to law; and proof having been
made that said A.S Parsons died on the 7th day of Nov.1888 Given under
the hand and official seal of the Register at Towanda Nov. 16, 1888.
