Last Will and testament of Joseph Metteer deceased, late of Granville.
Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Metteer of the Township
of Granville in the County of Bradford State of Pennsylvania being of a
sound mind and in good health and blessed be God for the same and considering
the uncertainty of life do make ordain and publish this my last will and
testament in manner and form following, to wit that is to say. First
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Metteer the youse of all my
property bothe real and personal during her natural life and after death
I give and bequeath to my sons George Metteer and James Metteer all of
my property both real and personal by their paying and performing as follows
in the first place James and George Metteer must pay all of debts and James
Metteer is to pay George Metteer one half of all betterments he makes the
place after this date and James Metteer is to pay Two hundred dollars for
a piece of Land where William Metteer wants it which Land shall belong
to the heirs of William Metteer and the deed shall be made out and executed
to the heirs of William Metteer within one year after James Metteer comes
in possession of the Land and personal property and George Metteer is to
pay Jane Metteer my daughter one cow, ten sheep, two beds and bedding for
the same, two bedsteds worth five dollars a piece, one table worth five
dollars, one beourow worth twelve dollars, one set of chairs worth six
dollars and sufficient potts kettles and dishes to keep house with which
is to be paid by George Metteer to Jane Metteer within one year after he
takes possession of the Land or has right to take possession of the land
and the said George Metteer is to pay William Metteer and Robert Metteer
one dollar each and if George Metteer should do without having any family
then all of the property shall belong to James Metteer and James Metteer
should do without having any family then the property shall belong to George
Metteer and if George Metteer and James Metteer should both do without
either having any family then all of the property both real and personal
shall belong to him Robert Metteer by his paying and performing what is
in here required and I herby publish and declare this my last will and
testament hereby revoking all other wills heretofore made by me in testimony
whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal at Granville the 23 day of October
A.D. 1851.

Signed sealed published and delivered by the said testator as and for
his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and
at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names
as Witnesses thereunto and the word Robert Metteer is interlined before
signed by the Testator.

This day before one H.L. Scott Register for the probate of wills
and granting letters of administration in and for the County aforesaid
personally came Edmund Kelly Jr & John Kelly the subscribing witnesses
to the above will who being duly sworn according to law do say, that they
were present and saw and heard Joseph Metteer the testator, sign, seal,
publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and
for his last will and testament, and that at the time of so doing he was
of sound mind, memory & understanding to the best of their knowledge
& belief.
