FARMER DIES IN HAYING ACCIDENT WED.
(Right under the title, Richard wrote in, 1943.)

Leonard Ashley Suffers a Heart Attack as Hay Load Tips Over Yesterday.

Leonard Ashley, 57, of Middle Ridge, died almost instantly yesterday morning when the load of hay he was bringing into the barn tipped over and he suffered a concussion.  It is thought Mr. Ashley, who had been in poor health for some time suffered a heart attack as he was coming up the road and when the horses ran into the barn too quickly he was unconscious and unable to save himself as his head struck a part of the wagon as the wagon tipped over.  Born in Tioga county on July 3, 1886, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ashley.  Mr. Ashley had spent most of his life in the vicinity where he died.  He was an active member of the Middle Ridge church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Gertrude, Mrs. William Reasner, of Williamsport; Neva, Mrs. Waldo Beckhorn of Valois, NY; Corene, Mrs. Richard Slocum; Miss Joanna Ashley, and Jane.  Mrs. Richard Olmstead, all of Wellsboro; one brother Isaac of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will probably be held Saturday afternoon at the church.
