Jan. 1, 1873 – Go by cars to Addison from Corning dinner at the American House. Go by Stage from Addison to WoodHull arrive at Uncles at 4 pm. Fare on Stage 4/ each find them all well. Extra good sleighing. Thus commences the new year visiting. Trusting it may prove prosprous & pleasant.
Jan. 2 – Visit with Uncle. Go to Wood-Hull. See Harry Pultz (sp?) or --?--. Like the appearance of the place.
Jan. 3 – Visit with Uncle. Uncle takes us to Addison, take cars to Corning. Visit Glass Works. --?—Agency of B. W. Payne & Sons to Sell engines. Put up at Dickinson House.
Jan. 4 – Go by cars to Elmira from there to Ulster. Father meets us there, arrive Home at 8:00 PM. We had a pleasant time, form many pleasant acquaintances.

Jan. 6 – Work in Mill ½. Go to Towanda. Philetus Campbell married to Miss S. Jane Schouten.
Jan. 7
Jan. 8 – Work in Mill. S. W. Paynes Foundry & Store burned last night. No particulars.

Jan. 17 – At Election vote against Lisence. Majority against Lisence in this County about 2200.
Jan. 18, 19
Jan. 20 – Otis Burlingame broke his leg a few days since.
Jan. 21 – Marcus Dibble broke his leg today. Clarence Ford & Miss Alice Brown married in Church. General invitation given.

Feb. 10 – Rev. Z. Lane died, Gov. Gerey (sp?) died. Jacob Morley very sick. Mrs. M. S. Dibble very sick

March 11 – Old Mrs. Capt. Philips died a few days since.

March 13 – Edgar Dibble married to a Miss Mitchell. James Dibble married to a Miss Berdie yesterday eve.

March 30 – Hear that Mrs. E. V. Nichols is not expected to live.

April 3 – At Smithfield Center see Harry & Walter Pierce in regard to money promised the first of June 1873.
April 4 – Report that Edwin Blakeslee is not expected to live with the Small Pox
April 5, 6 – Report that Edwin Blakeslee is dead, later report that he is not.

April 22 – Father gone to Towanda also Thad & Edgar & wives go to Towanda, also Tompkins goes to Troy. Snows all day.

May 1—Run Engine, Commence to sort out 10 percent of all the money I receive.

May 13 – Saw ½ day, run engine, set out orchard south east of house. Buy of A. E. Child 1 B.W. Raymand movement & 14 oz silver --?—watch, price $82.50 less 5 percent $78.40 for cash. (This entry has been written up both sides, and can’t read the rest of it).
May 14 – Run engine, Charlie Riggs here on business.

May 17 – Run engine, Old Mrs. Kingsley died this am.
May 18 – All at the funeral of Mrs. Kingsley Smithfield. Sermon by C. C. Corss.
May 19 – At Troy to get re cut files
May 20 – Father at Ulster to see John McQueen in regard to shingles. Contracts for all we can make till the first of Oct. 1873. No. 1 at 5.00 delivered, No 2 at 4.00 delivered.

May 24 – Mrs. P. Campbell very sick with Typhoid fever.
May 25
May 26 – Dig ditch to get water for engine. Phileties Campbells wife died. See Jan. 6.
May 27 – We all are at the funeral of Mrs. P. Campbell at Christian Church Smithfield. Alex Lane preached from James 4-14. Very warm
May 28 – J. Maynard sick with cold

May 31 – All at Towanda get photographs of Mrs. Bourne, Carrie & Self. Price $2.50 per doz.

June 3 – Run engine. P. Hall’s & Mr. Wakeleys barn burned very dry & windy. Several fires running in woods.
June 4 – Run engine. Subscribe for 1 copy of Hitchcocks complete analysis of the Holy Bible the agent gave of 75 cents leaving the Moracco Bound at $8.00 to be delivered in September next.

July 26 – Start Circular saw, runs very good. Birthday 29 years old. This has been a very short year. The first Birth Day I have not worked in hay or harvest since I was 10 years old.

Oct. 27 – Run engine until 1:30 am. Go to Troy as juror drawn on case Common=Wealth vs 2 boys for girdling fruit trees. Put up at Troy House.
Oct. 28 – Charge of Judge at 9 am out until 3 pm fail to agree. Drawn on case Milles vs McNaut
Oct. 29 – Verdict for defendant.
Oct. 30 – Get excused for today go to Elmira to buy goods.
Oct. 31 – Come home, court adjourned.
Nov. 1, 2, 3, 4
Nov. 5 – Run engine ½ go with Wm. Riggs from Troy, Pa to Corning, NY. Fare from Troy to Elmira 90 cents, Fare from Elmira to Corning 55 cents, fare from Corning to Mansfield $1.05. Put up at the Dickinson House.
Nov. 6 – Go from Corning to Elkland, from Elkland to Mansfield, Stop at Tioga, see W. B. Mead of Elkland in regard to doors, sash and blinds, also C. M. Putsman Tioga & S. R. Deckir, Mansfield. Shall probably deal with L. R. D. Order 15 13 X 26 windows. Fare from Lawrenceville to Elkland 40 cents, fare from Lawrenceville to Corning 55 cents, Fare from Lawrenceville to Mansfield 55 cents. Stay at Mansfield over night.
Nov. 7 – Leave Mansfield at 8:10 am, leave Corning at 2.5 PM, leave Elmira at 4:15 PM, arrive in Troy at 5:40 PM. Walk home in the rain as usual. Get home at 10 PM. Total expence $10.00.

Nov. 24 – Work in Grocery. Fredric Whitehead died. A very fine man and will be much missed.

Dec. 9 – Work for D. Bourne ½. Put 4 lightes windows in house ½. Size 13 X 26.

Dec. 22 – Take Father & Mother to Ulster going on a visit to his folks, also see regard to signing a note.
