Died in Farmington, Pa., Mar
21st 1880, Mrs. Phebe Kemp, relict of Mr. John A. Kemp, deceased. She was born
in Lindley, Steuben Co., NY in 1798 and was 82 yrs of age. Some 50 yrs ago she
married John Kemp, then living at Lawrenceville, Pa., and soon after moved to
the town of Farmington. Five children were born to them -- three girls and two
boys; Elizabeth Catlin, Andover, NY; Anna Sheardown, Winona, Minn.; Alberts,
lives on the old homestead where the father and mother both died. Rev. H. Lamkin
officiated at her funeral. Burial was beside her husband in the Farmington Hill
Cemetery |

10th 1881. Mrs. King, who was here in Chatham on a visit from Iowa, died at the
residence of her niece on Brier Hill on the 8th inst. Mrs. King was formerly of
this place, and was the sister of N. A. Ashton and widow of a Mr. Main. She
married George King formerly of this place but then from Iowa, in Oct 1875,
sinch which time she has lived in Iowa. The death of Mr. King left her again a
widow, and she had returned here for a short visit. Her remains were brought
here to her brother's residence yesterday |

Died Hon. John C. Knox died in
Harrisburg last Fri. He was brought to this village yesterday for interment. Mr
Knox was born at Knoxville, Tioga Co., in Feb. 1817. Judge Knox leaves three
sons and a daughter, his wife having died some time ago in Wellsboro. (long
article). (Names of his children were not given but a news item in the same
paper said General Kilbourne Knox of New York and John C. Knox, Jr., of
Washington were in town yesterday, being called hither by the funeral of their
father, the late Hon. John C. Knox.) |
