GEORGE MICHAEL ("Mickey") KNOTT entered eternal life on September 22, 2020. He was born on January 14, 1943 in Trenton, New Jersey, to Elizabeth George Knott (+ 1988) and Walter Elmer Knott (+ 1977), and was the older brother of Walter Gerald ("Jerry") Knott (Berlin, NJ). After graduating from Hamilton West High School in 1961, Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Navy until 1965. He was unanimously voted Honor Man of his entire company, the first time this honor had been bestowed upon someone in the history of the Naval Station Great Lakes. He spent four years stationed in Pensacola, FL., where he trained in Communications, as well as in Kamiseya, Japan, and Adak, Ak. He enjoyed sharing stories about his time on the cramped submarine, the USS Diodon, intercepting Morse code signals from Russia. On June 19, 1965 he married his childhood sweetheart, Diane Margaret Affeldt, with whom he spent fifty-five wonderful years. Together they raised two daughters, E. Holly Knott (married to Paul Bokinz; of Lee, MA) and Danielle A. Noe (married to Brian M. Noe; of Naperville, IL). Mickey was a quality control inspector at a local New Jersey manufacturing plant. Retiring in 1987, he relocated his family from Bordentown, NJ, to Wellsboro, PA, where he and his wife worked together as self-employed folk artists and owners of the Pumpkin Basket, a framing and cross-stitch store. He and his wife eventually retired to Mansfield, PA in 1994. Mickey loved to work with his hands; he was an excellent carpenter and he found great joy in fixing things, gardening, and making his home a comfortable and beautiful sanctuary for his family. He spent his retired days and evenings on the back porch, enjoying the mountain breezes while reading a good mystery book or keeping his wife company while she watched British TV. They also enjoyed exploring new areas on their many day trips, weekend getaways, and many vacations in England. One of his greatest pleasures was also talking to his daughters and hearing about their lives and "furbabies." Mickey was a quiet man, rarely spoke an ill word about others or raised his voice. He never minded helping a neighbor or running an errand. Mickey gave of himself one hundred percent and was a model of decency, compassion, and integrity. He was a kind soul and a source of constant support, love, patience, and always gave loved ones a listening ear. By his own example, he inspired his wife and daughters to be strong and independent women, to go after their dreams, and to develop their gifts and talents – and to use power tools! His greatest desire was to care for his family, and he surpassed the achievement of this goal in life. He was and will be forever deeply loved by his wife, adored by his daughters, and respected by friends. May the angels lead him into paradise, where, one day, all will meet again. The funeral arrangements will be private by request of the family and handled by Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. in Mansfield, PA. DENNIS C. LOGAN, 65, passed from this world surrounded by his loving family, and entered his eternal home with the Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his residence. He bravely battled Neuroendocrine Cancer for 10 years. Born on September 21, 1954, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Randall C. and Irma J. (Dietrich) Logan. Surviving are his loving wife, Susan E. (Calkins) Logan with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on September 29th. Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Williamsport High School. After high school, he attended Mansfield University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. He played four years of college baseball for the Mansfield Mountaineers. His love of the game of baseball continued on after college where he played baseball for the Watsontown Pirates. He umpired for many years and he fervently coached Montoursville High School basketball and baseball. He volunteered as a Little League World Series team host for 18 years and has been “Uncle Denny” to many, many little leaguers who have come from all over the world to Williamsport to play the greatest game of all. Denny loved the Little League World Series and he had passion for educating children about the game he held so dear to his heart. Dennis taught in the Williamsport Area School District for 34 years and he was a professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology for 22 years. He impacted the life of so many children, co-workers, and friends throughout his career. He was labeled by many as being the “light of the world.” His enthusiasm, zest for life, and his powerful voice will always be remembered and missed by everyone. After retirement, he volunteered at Shepherd of the Streets. He also continued to educate his grandsons as he was so very devoted to helping them on a daily basis with their homework and studies. He was the most loving, and devoted poppy, father, husband, son and brother. Family meant everything to him. Denny loved the beauty of nature. He always was the first to comment on a beautiful day. He loved the changing of the leaves in the fall, the first snowfall of the winter where he would get out his cross country skis and snowshoes, the sound of the baseball hitting the mitt on the first day of spring, and the smoldering days of doubleheaders in the hot summer sun. Dennis also enjoyed reading, running, bicycling, hiking and history. He loved to travel to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg. Dennis was a devout Christian and he loved his Savior so very much. He was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday School for many years and gave numerous beautiful sermons. He never missed an opportunity to show God’s love by helping a person in need. It was important to him to help the less privileged. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Andrea E. (Joseph) Burkins, Larissa R. (Richard) Bowes; a brother, Gary C. (Diana) Logan; and four grandsons whom he loved so very much, Royce D. Bowes, Maverick L. Dunkleberger, Rawson A. Bowes, and Rance R. Bowes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Throughout Dennis’s cancer battle, his smile never left his face. He never complained about any of his setbacks as he wanted to be remembered as one that lived by his faith, believing that eternal life would be his reward and hoping those who would see this would believe as well. His hope was in a valiant effort he would be remembered by, well done good and faithful servant. BEAU JAMES PARKER, 28, of Canton and Troy, started his journey home on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020. He was born on Sept. 16, 1991 in Towanda, son of Lori A. (Bruce) Davis of Troy and Robert J. Parker of Canton. Beau was a 2010 graduate of Troy High School where he played football and wrestled. Beau always thrived at being the best at what he did, in high school his sights were focused on his big brother Brock to be the best wrestler he could be. During his adult years Beau had a variety of jobs which all were somehow related to construction. He got more pay out of the “thank you, good job or awesome work” than he did the check. Beau always did everything to the best of his ability to make his customers happy. After high school Beau had a passion for coaching kids, wrestling, football, baseball, softball, hunting (even though he could not hit a barn at 20 yds.) and helping others. Beau loved the outdoors, he loved hunting and spent endless hours scouting and setting up his spot on the Bruce farm. He loved getting on his dirt bike and just taking off. He would be gone for hours and just return covered with mud and completely exhausted. If you asked him where he had been, he would just say on the mountain because he honestly had no clue where all he had been. Beau had a strong faith in his lord and savior. He always reminded those around him that it was not our job to judge. Beau always felt if you could help, you should. Beau had an extreme passion for making others laugh and feel like they belonged. He would do everything within his power to make people smile which might include a swooping lift off the ground bear hug, a loud “what’s up -explicit” to the stanky leg dance. Beau always found the good in someone and would do whatever it took to show them that they were better than what they were portraying themselves to be. When it came to family you really could not ask for a better member. He was always willing to help in either a physical or mental manner. If you were down on your luck, you would forget about your troubles long before he left. Beau leaves behind his mother and step-father, Lori and John Davis of Troy; father, Rob Packer of Canton; paternal grandmother, Patricia EdMister; maternal grandmother, Carol Anderson; brothers, Brock Parker (Danielle) of Minnesota and Brandon Spiak of Troy; sisters, Tiffany Parker of New York, Carole Ann of Towanda, Samara Dibble and Kierstin Davis, (Mason, Grayson, and Kellen Kreger) loyal companion and best friend Ace; special Friends, Ty Rockwell, Kenyon Lafferty, and Josh Wood, all of Troy, wrestling wife, Allen Moyer (Rhoda), Kellie Spencer and Lil Man Ryder, Kyle Thompson, Jake Kneebone and Charlie and Cody Earl; aunts and uncles, Shawn and Linda Bruce of Troy, Scott and Lisa Bruce of New York, Dori Bruce of Troy, Steve Segear of Granville; cousins, Zack, Nick and Terrie Bruce, Joshua Wood, Steven and Mikey Seager, Meagan Bruce, and Samantha Clark. Beau was predeceased by maternal grandparents; special great-grandparents, Robert Bruce Sr. and Mary Bruce of Troy, Kenneth and Phyllis McNeal of Granville Summit; special Grammy Linda VanNoy of Standing Stone; and grandfather, Robert Bruce Jr. of Troy. Family and friends are welcome to call from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at Victory Church, 645 East Main Street, Troy, PA. The celebration of Beau’s life will begin at noon on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the church with Mr. Chris Landis officiating. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 1093 West Main Street, Troy. SOPER -JUDY L. CURTIS, 51, of Lockwood lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020. Choosing for herself the way this fight would end, she spent her last days at home in the loving company of her family and friends. Born on Oct.16, 1968, Judy grew up in Big Pond, PA, the fourth of five girls, born to Dale and Peggy Soper.  The family settled in Waverly, NY where Judy met David Curtis. The two raised three daughters in Lockwood, New York, the community they both loved and dedicated their lives to its people. She rejoins her parents, Dale and Margaret “Peg” Butter Soper, and her sister, Diane Hurd. Judy leaves behind her loving husband, David Curtis of Lockwood; her daughters, Joanne (Robert) Stoddard of Lockwood, Ashley Curtis of Clay and Miranda Curtis of Lockwood; her sisters, Linda (Michael) Cochi of Sayre, Susan (Michael) Rinebold of Gillett, PA and Sandy (Bruce) Amentler of Elmira; brother-in-law, Leslie Hurd of Waverly; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Rebecca and Ethan; as well as the rest of the Curtis and Soper families.  Her loss is shared with her chosen children, Candon and Elexes Westervelt, among many others. Judy was warm and empathetic. She could often be seen providing a calming, steady presence to those experiencing the unimaginable. During her time as a teacher’s aid, Judy’s no-nonsense, tough-love approach made her a favorite among teachers and students alike, often reaching students others could not. Although her impact on the community is of course important, Judy Curtis was first and foremost, a mom. The tough-love approach used later in her work was first honed in at home where she raised three fiercely-independent women who don’t know limits exist because, at the end of the day, “Can’t is a person too lazy to try.”  After her own children began school, Judy looked after others’ children who frequently refer to “Miss Judy” as their second mother. To all her children, both biological and chosen, Judy was a constant source of love and support as well as the occasional “Gibbs Slap” back to reality.  Judy and Dave hosted and chaired the Fresh Air Fund for the Valley for many years, they volunteered at Lockwood Fire Department and were always willing to help out wherever and whenever needed. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at the Waverly United Methodist Church, 158 Chemung Street, Waverly, NY with Rev. Cindy Schulte officiating. The family is being assisted by the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY . Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Waverly United Methodist Church, 158 Chemung Street, Waverly, NY. -Towanda Daily Review 9/29/2020
