DINGLE Ronald W. Dingle Sr.
70, of Galeton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. While he resided in Galeton for the past six years, he was originally a native of White Deer, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he lived in the Turbotville and Watsontown areas for about twenty years each. He was born on December 19, 1942, a son of the late Frederick Joseph Dingle, Sr. and Alberta Mae (Huff) Dingle. He leaves his wife, Sandy K. Dingle, for whom he was married to for nearly 25 years. Having being wed on February 14, 1989, they were looking forward to celebrating their silver anniversary on Valentine's Day, 2014. Losing his father early in life, he needed to grow up quickly as a young man in order to help support his mother and younger brother. After high school graduation, at the age of 17 in 1960, he started working for American Home Foods in Milton, Pa. He remained employed with this company until his noteworthy retirement in 2002, completing 42 faithful and devoted years of service. Throughout his tenure, he worked in many aspects of the manufacturing of “Chef Boy-Ar-Dee” products. He started his career in the Mushroom Plant and moved on to become a manager of the vegetable fields- overseeing the local farming and growing of tomatoes. He completed his career working inside the factory managing the kitchen preparation and batch formulation operations. Outside of work, he had many interests and hobbies. First, he was an avid outdoorsman. He spent numerous hours of his life, hunting, fishing, and trapping- learning to coexist with the environment and wildlife. He enjoyed sharing these activities with his brother, sons, and friends. As such, he was a long-time member of the Limberger Cabin located on the White Deer Pike. He was proud to be a Founding Father and co-owner of Blue Run Farm, Inc.- a hunting and fishing club located in Tioga County. He has served as the Secretary/Treasurer since its inception in 1969 and his knowledge, management skills, and leadership will surely be missed. His keen eye and marksmanship has bagged him a bountiful assortment of game throughout his journey through life; as a result, he was a very successful and well rewarded outdoorsman. To say that he loved to cook and eat would be an understatement. He would often turn a simple meal at the cabin into a meal of grandeur since he insisted that he had to make the pasta fresh himself. This love of cooking led him to the development and ownership of his business “Oink & Cluck Party Roasting Service”. With this venture, he provided full catering or a simple roasting of a pig or chicken for nearly a decade. This was a very successful endeavor and for several years, he maintained a stand at the annual McClure Bean Soup Festival. He recently took his latest hobby, collecting post cards, to the next level by becoming an author. He penned his first book “Around Galeton and Coudersport, a Postcard History Series” in 2008. He recently completed his second narrative- a project completed specifically for the Galeton Public Library. At the time of his passing, he was working on his third post card history book. Another recent hobby of his was the making of homemade wine. He enjoyed learning about the process and developing his own style. He would frequently provide a bottle or two at the hunting camp or family events to help keep the spirits lively. Recently, he even won some awards for his wine in an amateur wine making competition. Earlier in life, he enjoyed raising livestock and participating in the family butchering events. He was an avid bowler and member of many organizations such as the Moose, VFW, and American Legion. He graduated from Milton High School in 1960 and was proud to be one of the last few remaining students from the last class from the White Deer Elementary. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald W. Dingle, Jr. and his wife Allison of Catawissa; Donald E. Dingle and Lisa A. Boyer of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law: Michele I. Fisher and her husband Kevin of Trevorton; four step-daughters: Cindy and her husband John McCarthy of Gaines; Lisa and her husband Jeff Lazorchak of Germania; Sandy and her husband Mike Bennett of Ulysses; Vicki and her husband Bobby Sherwood of Ulysses; and one brother: Frederick Joseph Dingle, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, he is survived by 18 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant son. In keeping with his personal wishes, there will be no public services performed. Memorials may be made to the Potter County Historical Society, 308 N. Main St., Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Galeton Public Library, 5 Park Lane, Galeton, PA 16922. Arrangements are entrusted to the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA.
