STONE Florence Winifred Stone Morgan

"A mother holds her children's hands for a little while ... and their hearts forever. "Florence Winifred Stone Morgan joined her heavenly family on Aug. 1, 2013. She was at home surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Florence was born in Gleason, Pa., on Sept. 22, 1928, a daughter of Francis and Laura Carl Stone. She attended grade school in Wellsboro and graduated from the Canton High School in 1946. She married Lyle Morgan on Oct. 16, 1948 and together they built a beautiful farm out of sticks and stones and a family out of love. Lyle died on Nov. 19, 2012, after celebrating 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife. Florence was born with a gentle nature and a green thumb. African violets and iris thrived under her magical touch. A hummingbird at her feeder brought more joy to her than anything on television. She loved everything about the outdoors. Her grandchildren knew that Grandma Morgan would play anything with them from softball to board games. When she wasn't playing her favorite card game of "500," she was treasuring her time playing with her grandchildren. She taught her children important lessons about life. She led and taught with an angelic, patient demeanor few will ever know. She always said that if you couldn't find something nice to say about someone, it was better to keep quiet. She demonstrated that quality perfectly. She believed in keeping life simple and lived that way. From the homemade ice cream, hayrides, picnics, and gardening. To watching the cows grazing in the pasture and the deer helping themselves to the hay in the fields and the corn in the cribs, anything shared with family ... that was the life she cherished. She parented and loved with the soft soothing touch of an angel. There truly are no words to say what a perfect mother and grandma she was. To know her was to love her. Florence is survived by her children Stephen Morgan of Shunk, Mary Lou (and Richard) Isbell, Ulster, Pa., Pamela (and James) Bailey, Fairbanks, Alaska, and William (and Rebecca) Morgan of Shunk. Grandchildren include Laura (Matt) Connor, Jason (Tina) Rhodes, Donna (David) Welles, Rick Isbell, Lacey (Duncan) Westbrook, Jill (Kurt) Brown, Beth Bailey, Roger (Ashley) Hart, Autumn, Amanda and Sara Morgan. Her precious great-grandchildren include Ashlee, Haylee, Hollee and Blake Welles, the twins — Lane and Addison Westbrook, Shannon and Michael Connor, and the anticipated birth of Connor Michael Brown, due in December and Roger and Ashlee's baby in February 2014.In addition to her husband, Lyle, Florence was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Mary Jane and Doris Stone. She is survived by her sisters Eleanor Hanna, Evelyn (Robert) Blow, Edith Lucas, Jean (Ronald) Shaner, Linda (Tom) Runkle and Janet Wagner; and one brother Clarence (Barb) Stone and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Services will be held at the Morse & Kleese Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013. The viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m., with the funeral to follow at 1:30 p.m. A meal and gathering will follow back at the farm.     Towanda Daily Review – August 3, 2013
