BECKHORN Howard J. Beckhorn
83, of Troupsburg, NY, died on Wednesday, October 13. Howard was a
native and long time resident of Knoxville, PA but had lived the last several
years with his children in Troupsburg, NY. He was born in Coudersport,
PA on July 11, 1927, the son of Creed Beckhorn and Bessie Campbell Beckhorn.
Howard was a self-employed entrepreneur working in various businesses.
He married the former Winifred Mapes who predeceased him in 1989. He was
also predeceased by his son, Butch Gardner; his brothers, Donald, Leroy
and Carl Beckhorn; and his sister, Helen Crooks. Surviving are his sons,
Lanny Beckhorn and Mark Beckhorn, both of Andover, NY, Carlyle (Vicky)
Beckhorn of Troupsburg, NY, Creed (Mary) Beckhorn of Lindley, NY, and Roy
(Nisha) Beckhorn of Roseville, CA; his daughters, Jane Prano, Christine
(Robert) Estrata and Jacqueline (Steven) Butler, all of Andover and Winifred
Beckhorn of Wellsville, NY. Also surviving are his daughter-in-law, Bonnie
Gardner of Osceola, PA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. and again
on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral

BRONGO Joseph Brongo
of Cogan Station, died
Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at the Geisinger
Medical Center, Danville, following a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn,
he was the son of the late Louis and Frances Burke Brongo. He was a graduate
of Wyoming Valley West High School, Kingston, and Spring Garden College,
Philadelphia and had previously been employed as a manufacturing engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Germick Brongo. A private funeral service
will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may

BROWNELL Delores H Stewart
Bath, N.Y. — Delores H. Stewart, 77, died
Sunday October 17,
2010 at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. She was born in Jasper, NY, on
January 30, 1933 the daughter of the late Earl and Helen (Walters) Brownell.
She attended Jasper School, she worked for Westinghouse and retired from
Philips Lighting. She married her husband Charles Stewart in 1953, he died
in 1988. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband a sister Pauline
Ashbaugh and two brothers Earl Brownell and Merle Brownell. She is survived
by her daughter Charlene (Ward) Lurcock of Cleveland, TN, grandsons Anthony
(Elizabeth) Lurcock of Cleveland, TN, Joseph (Danielle) Lurcock of
Cleveland, TN, Skye, Charles, and Raine Lurcock of Cleveland, TN,
sister Shirley (LaVern) Sherwood of Jasper, NY, brothers Allen (Telena)
Brownell of Hornell, NY Walter (Wynann) Brownell of California, and Stanley
Brownell of Conway, South Carolina. Calling hours are being observed on
Thursday October 21, 2010 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Bond-Davis Funeral
Home of Bath where her Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of

BUBB Ruth K. Nau
93, formerly of Oval, died Friday Oct. 15, 2010, at Valley View Nursing
Center. Ruth was born in Avis on July 15, 1917, a daughter of Ralph and
Rose Baier Bubb. Ruth was a 1935 graduate of the former St. Mary's High
School, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a homemaker.
Ruth's husband, Edward S. Nau died July 30, 1981. Surviving are a daughter
Joyce (Bob) Fitting of Williamsport; two sons, Gerald E. Nau of South Williamsport,
Richard F. (Shawn) Nau of New Castle, Del.; a granddaughter Andrea; a great
granddaughter Trinity; a sister Mary Hamm of Williamsport; and two brothers
Hubert "Pete" Bubb of Williamsport, Paul E. Bubb of Linden and several
nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, three brothers Lewis, Harold
and Gerald Bubb and a sister Helene Baier preceded her in death. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday
with the Rev. Bert Kozen officiating. Burial will follow in the church

employee at 3M Corp. in Rochester and Minneapolis MN. He is survived by

CARNEY Doris M. Kolesar
78, of Ulster, Pa., died
Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 at Bradford
County Manor following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 26, 1931
in Meshoppen, Pa., the daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Harriet A.
Carr Carney. Doris retired as a cook for the Athens Area School District
after 20 years of service. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending
time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband John in 1998, and
son John Jr., in 1990. Doris is survived by her children, Sally and
Denny Sieracki of Richland, Wash., Lois and Dean Payne of Ulster, Pa.,
David and Jan Kolesar of Brookline, N.H., and Joseph Kolesar and fiancé
Leah Shefcyk of St. Marys, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
three sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family
may call from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at the Jay E. Lowery
Funeral Home Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, Pa. Funeral services

CEREOLA Grayce M. Lanzarone
died
peacefully on Saturday morning, October 16, 2010 at St.
Joseph's Hospital. Grayce was born May 5, 1913 in Piqua, OH, a daughter
of the late Rosario and Guiseppina Riccardi Cereola. She married Vincent
Lanzarone on April 1937. Grayce is pre-deceased by her husband, Vincent;
her siblings, Joseph, Carl, Vincent, Millie, Nancy and Sally; son-in-law,
Dr. James Sonsire; and granddaughter, Deirdre. Grayce began designing clothes
at a young age. After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, she
embarked on a career as a dressmaker. She was elected to the International
Garment Workers Union, where she served as a chairwoman and liason between
workers and the Union. Grayce was a very social person who had many friends.
She and her brothers and sisters were very close. They could always be
found on holidays, in the kitchen, at the card table laughing and kidding
each other until the early morning hours. She loved to play cards, to dance,
and was a champion bocce ball player. Grayce enjoyed cooking many Italian
dishes, her family will always remember her with an apron on, standing
over the stove, the smell of sauce and meatballs filling the house - her
wooden spoon at the ready if any of us tried a sample before dinner. There
were many times Grayces' family needed her and she was there without hesitation.
She had a special relationship with her grandaughter, Deirdre. We will
never forget how she came and stayed, again and again, when times were
hardest. She taught us to cook, showed us how to love and we will miss
her with our whole hearts. Grayce is survived by her children, Joanne (Tom
Gardner) Sonsire of Horseheads, NY Richard (Anne) Lanzarone of Accord,
NY and Dennis Lanzarone of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Christa, J. Matthew,
Malcolm (Claire Guanzon), Damian (Christina Bruner) and Scott Lanzarone;
and three great-grandchildren, Maryn Grayce Sonsire, and Laurel Grayce
Sonsire. Family and friends will be received at Sullivan's Funeral Home,
365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, October 19, 2010,

Friday, October 15,
2010, at Manor Care-North, Williamsport. Born August 8, 1945, in Jersey
Shore, Pa. he was the son of the late John W. and Sarah E. (Neff) Charles.
He was a saw mill worker a majority of his life. Sonny is survived by a
sister Janet Rozumalski of Linden, a companion Helen Matthews of Williamsport,
and special friends Barb Haight of Williamsport and Alfred Whipple of Linden.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday October 19, 2010 at
Manor Care North, 300 Leader Drive, Williamsport with Rev. Gwen Berstine
officiating. A private interment will be held in Salladasburg Cemetery.

CHATFIELD Mary
Ithaca, N.Y. — Mary Chatfield, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, October
13, 2010 at Cayuga Ridge, lovingly tended by staff and Hospicare.
She was born in Painted Post, NY, on March 18, 1920, the only daughter
of John L. and Grace M. She has been preceded in death by her parents
and her brothers, John, Charles, Richard and Arthur as well as sisters-in-law
Jean and Joyce. In Ithaca she worked at Rothschild’s Department store and
the Cornell Campus Store. She also kept house for her mother and
brother Charlie. She loved the outdoors, shopping, doing crafts,
travel, teddy bears, and the color purple. She is survived by a niece Nan
Cavenaugh of Harrisburg, PA, her husband Jim, grand-nephews David (of Pittsburgh)
and Rob (of Washington, DC), and a great grand niece and nephew. Also,
in Massachusetts are nephews Charles J. Chatfield IV (Bud), John, and Steve
Chatfield, their wives and five grand nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers

COOLEY David Richard Cooley
69, of Mifflinburg, went home to be with the Lord at 1:56 p.m. on Monday,
Oct. 18, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital. Born on Aug. 12, 1941,
at Muncy Valley Hospital, Muncy, he is a son of Francis Miller Cooley of
Elimsport and the late Clara Elizabeth (Whidden) Cooley. On June 13, 1981,
he married the former Darla M. Newton, who survives. Together, they shared
over 29 years of memories. David was a 1960 graduate of Montgomery High
School. Mr. Cooley was a member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene
for 25 years. Mr. Cooley was the founder of Cooley's Furniture, which began
in Centre Hall in 1983, moving to Mifflinburg in November of 1993. David
sold his business in December of 2009. He is survived by a brother, Dale
Cooley and his wife, Sharon, of Elimsport; a sister, Sandra Mashburn and
her husband, Paul, of Lake View, Ala.; two nieces; two nephews; and a god
son. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010,
at the First Church of the Nazarene, 12 E. Market St., Mifflinburg, with
Pastor Wayne S. Krell, officiating. Family and friends are invited to a
viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at

COSTA Peter "Pete" A
Colorado Springs, Co. — Peter “Pete” A. Costa died
October 3,
2010. A long time resident of Colorado Springs, Pete was born to Anthony
and Winifred (Williams) Costa on January 13, 1940 in Corning, NY. He graduated
from Northside High School, Corning, NY in 1957 and Bryant and Stratton
College, Buffalo, NY in 1959. He moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1960 and then
to Los Angeles, CA in 1967. In 1970 he moved to Colorado Springs.
He co-owned Computer Specialist Corporation, worked for CDI, Walter Drake
and Sons and most recently Chefs. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Costa;
sons, Michael Costa and Marc Costa, and six grandsons; brothers Keith,
Gerald, Phillip and Gordon; sister, Karen Gowen. Memorial service
was held at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado

DELORME Sally L. Robinson
74, of Sayre, Pa., entered the arms of her lord on October 19, 2010
at the Robert Packer Hospital after a brief and a courageous battle with
cancer. She was born on January 8, 1936 in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter
of the late Robert and Laurine (Randall) Delorme. Sally worked as the school
nurse at the Nichols Elementary School for over 30 years. She loved watching
the birds in her back yard and spending time and playing with her grandchildren.
Sally is preceded in death by an aunt, Joy Randall and a nephew, Daryl
Delorme. Sally is survived by her daughter Teri and fiance (Eric Bomboy)
Lathrop of Waverly; brother, David Delorme of Riparius N.Y.; sisters, Donna
(Lee) Brooks of Chestertown, N.Y., and Tanya Delorme of Truro, Mass.; grandchildren,
Robert and Justin Lathrop. Many other special friends, relatives and neighbors
also survive. At Sally’s request, a private graveside service will be held
at the convenience of the family at the Tioga Point Cemetery. Flowers will

Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday (Oct. 22) at St. Michael's Catholic

Tyrone, NY, the daughter of the late Ignacy and Josephine Tylka Dlugosh.
She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1949. On July 26, 1952 in St.
Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, in Bradford, NY, she married Franklin
A. Moore. A lifelong local resident she and her husband were winter residents
of Florida since 1994. Mrs. Moore was a member of the former St. Andrews
Roman Catholic Church, in Dundee. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother,
she will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Franklin A. Moore at home;
three sons, James F. (Nancy) Moore of Clifton Springs, NY, Robert J. (Shelly)
Moore of Dundee, Charles A. (Beth) Moore of Columbia, SC; two daughters,
Susan M. Glover of Lapel, IN, Sally J. Moore of Dundee; a brother, Thomas

DOWLING Delores "Dody" Hague
73, of Lock Haven, died
Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Muncy Skilled
Nursing. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Hague, who
died
in 2005. Born on May 23, 1937, in Jersey Shore, she was the
daughter of the late Raymond and Edna (Dapp) Dowling. Delores worked for
many years for Truck-Lite, McElhattan, from where she retired in 2003.
Delores was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Jersey Shore,
the Castenea Fire Hall, Castenea, and the BPOE, Lock Haven. Delores was
a woman of many enjoyments. She enjoyed working, sewing, painting and yodeling.
Her greatest joy in life was raising and spending time with her family.
Delores was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt
and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She
will always be remembered for her spunky personality. The family would
like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff of Susquehanna
Health and Hospice, especially to Dr. Brown and Jeff Baker. In addition
to her parents and her husband Earl, she was preceded in death by her sisters,
Rae Jean, Cecelia Ann, Alice, Evelyn, Mary, Claire and Emmeline. Delores
is survived by her children, Audrey Wheeler, Washington, Earl Hague, Washington,
Edna Fetter, Lock Haven, Bill Hague, Fla., Alice Grabowski, Benton, and
Timothy Hague, Philadelphia; 19 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; sister,

ETTERS Genevieve Alexander
died
in her sleep at her home in Pleasant Valley, Alaska, on
October 13, 2010, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at age 92.
Genevieve was born October 9, 1918, in Snowshoe, Pa., to Ralph and Lula
Mae McCartney Etters. She was one of nine brothers and sisters. Genevieve
married Walter Alexander in Williamsport and had three sons, Walter, Tom
and Dennis. She also cared for numerous foster children. Surviving are
two sisters, Martha (Barney) Burden and Rita Shoulder; two of her sons,
Walter and Dennis; seven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandson. Genevieve and her husband Walter, moved
to Cogan House in 1961. She was very active with the Cogan House Christian
Church, where she was a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher and President/member
of the Ladies Aide. Her fondest memories were organizing Vacation Bible
School and the times she spent at the Sylvan Hill Church Camp, where she
volunteered as Director, counselor and cook. Although Cogan House was her
home, she moved to Alaska in 2003 to be closer to family, and settled in
the Two Rivers Community in November 2004. There she quickly took root
and became the adopted "Gram" to most of the residents. She kept busy making
quilts, pillows and sock monkeys, but was best known for the pies that
she loved to bake and became known as the "Pie Lady." Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cogan House Christian Church, 3782 Cogan
House Road, Trout Run, with Pastor Bob Strimboulis officiating. Graveside
committal services will be held immediately following at the White Pine
(Summit) Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.

FURLONG Debra E. Tomlinson
52, of 187 Laidacker Rd., Milton and formerly of Glenmoore, died Thursday,
October 14, 2010 at her home. Born October 7, 1958 in Bensalem, she was
a daughter of Mary (Stiles) Furlong of North Carolina and the late Edward
Furlong. On March 10, 1979, she married Glenn D. Tomlinson. Together they

and a large extended family. Debra was preceded in death by her father

42, of Camp Hill, died
on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at home with
dignity and grace after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by
family. Kris was born in Towanda, Pa. and was a daughter of Gary
and Eileen Green of McSherrystown, Pa. She was employed by The Milton S.
Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine as a Manager of
Research, Communications and Marketing. Kris was a graduate of Northeast
Bradford High School, Rome, Pa., where she was valedictorian. She went
on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Business Management from
The Pennsylvania State University where she was a member of the prestigious
Omicron Delta Kappa society, a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics
from Virginia Tech, winning a national award for her thesis, and later
a Master's Degree in Communication from Shippensburg University. She was
most proud of being the marketing, communications, and strategic services
manager for the opening of the Milton S. Hershey Cancer Institute. She
was a well respected member of the public relations community, serving
as an officer in the Central Pa. Public Relations Society of America. In
her honor "Kupkakes for Kris" was formed to be a continuing legacy of her
strength and courage for years to come. She is survived by her devoted
husband Michael Williams, with whom she was looking forward to their 17th
anniversary on the 16th of October, her parents Gary and Eileen Green of
McSherrystown, Pa.; a sister Kimberly and her husband Randy King of Hanover,
Pa., niece Lauryn and nephew Ryan. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m.

Cameron, N.Y. — William E. Groves, 76, of 4650 Cameron-North Jasper
Road, Cameron, entered into rest on Friday evening, October 15, 2010 at
home following a long illness. Bill was born in Corning on April 5, 1934,
the son of Fritz and Helen (Marsh) Groves. A long time employee of Corning
Inc., Bill retired in 1978 as a fork lift operator at the Sullivan Park
Research Facility. He was a member of the Addison Eagles Aerie 3904 and
was a great farm tractor enthusiast. He married the former Elvira June
Lowe on December 20, 1969 in Addison. She survives. Besides Elvira June
at home, Bill is also survived by his daughter, Mary Shedden of Gaines,
Pa., his grandsons, William Shedden and James Shedden, his great granddaughters,
Savannah and Dakota Shedden as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding
Bill in death were his brothers, Paul, Leonard and Mick Groves. A memorial
service will be held on Saturday, October 23 at 1:00 PM at the family residence
at 4650 Cameron-North Jasper Road, Cameron. Rev. Daniel Knopf will officiate.

Mrs. Donna M. Berry, 51, of 2038 Riverside Drive, South Williamsport,
died
at her home on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. Mrs. Berry had been
employed as a caseworker by the Lycoming County Board of Assistance. She
had formerly been employed by the Bucks County Association of the Blind.
She was a graduate of LaSalle University at Philadelphia, and was currently
working on her master's degree. Mrs. Berry was an avid reader. Born Aug.
8, 1959, at Dover, Del., she was the daughter of the late William E. and
Rita Tierno Harvey. Surviving are her two sons, Joseph M. Berry of South
Williamsport and James A. Berry, II and his wife Shanna of McElhatten;
her two brothers, Bill Harvey of Warminster and Tim Harvey and his wife,
Debbie of Holland; her four grandchildren and her longtime companion, James
A. Berry of South Williamsport. In addition to her late parents, she was
also preceded in death by her grandmother, Minnie Tierno. In keeping with
the wishes of the decedent, there will be no visitation and no services

HEGGENSTALLER Gayle Cleta Heggenstaller
55, of 478 Fourth Gap Road, Loganton, returned home to the Lord peacefully
in her sleep in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. She
was born Jan. 2, 1955, in the Jersey Shore Hospital, the daughter of the
late John Heggenstaller Sr. and the former Mary Hampe. Gayle was a 1972
graduate of the Sugar Valley High School and was employed by the West Pharmaceutical
Company in Jersey Shore for the past several years. She was an active lifelong
and charitable member of the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren. Her favorite
pastime included reading, craft fairs and festivals, baking and spending
her time outdoors walking and hiking. These pastimes were best shared with
her cherished companion of many years, her calico cat "Noelle." Gayle was
an avid animal lover and especially compassionate to the feline variety.
Gayle was a gifted baker and will be remembered by many of her nieces and
nephews for her specialty, birthday cakes. She is survived by her mother;
seven siblings, Dennis (Marlene) Heggenstaller of Loganton, John "Tony"
(Kay) Heggenstaller of Williamsport, Sol (Joan) Heggenstaller of Liverpool,
Crystal (John) Smith of Williamsport, Tami Underkoffler of Loganton, Lee
(Letti) Heggenstaller of Mill Hall and Molly (Wayne) Heggenstaller of Mifflinburg;
also her many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her father, and a sister, Cheryl Lynne Heggenstaller. Funeral services

Shirley. He was born in Jersey Shore on Oct. 1, 1928, the son of the late
Charles C. and Erma L. Myers Hocker. Buzz was a Sgt. First Class in the
U.S. Army during the Korean War. Early in his life, he was employed by
the New York Central Railroad, Boatman's Garage in Jersey Shore and later
was a welder at Piper Aircraft. An avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and
fish, as well as garden. He also enjoyed to tinker on whatever project
he could find; a true "jack of all trades." He was a member of the La Belle
Vallee Masonic Lodge #232, the Jersey Shore Elks Lodge #1057 a Past Exalted
Ruler, the Jersey Shore Moose Lodge #214 and the American Legion Post #36.
He will be missed tremendously by his son Michael, daughter-in-law Annette
and his grandchildren Sara, Cody and Erin of Great Falls, Montana. The
family extends their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the staffs of

HOFER Miss Jemima E. Hofer
88, longtime South Williamsport resident, formerly of Bayard Street,
died
on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at
the Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville. Miss Hofer had been an
active, loyal and dedicated member of the South Williamsport United Methodist
Church, where she had been a member since 1935. She had served on a number
of committees including the flower care committee and also the Worship
membership committee. Miss Hofer retired in 1983 from the former Winchester
Optical Company of Williamsport, where she had served for 40 years in the
office. She was a member of the Susquehanna Chapter of the American Business
Women, a member of AARP, and a member of the Messiah Senior Citizens at
South Williamsport. Born March 10, 1922, at Williamsport, she was
the daughter of the late William and LeVerne Barner Hofer. In addition
to her late parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers,
Hamilton G. Hofer and Norris W. Hofer. Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E.
Central Ave., South Williamsport. Her pastor, Rev. Mark D. Brumbach, will

as well as her beloved husband, Franklin Bartlett. She is survived by her
five children, Roger (Barb) Bartlett of Madison, WI, Joan Bartlett, Peter

Avoca, N.Y. — Chad Ross Jacquier, age 18, of Avoca, NY, died suddenly
Friday, October 15, 2010 in Forks Township, PA. He was born November 28,
1991 in Avoca, NY the son of Richard Jacquier and Julia Rosekrans. He worked
in Phase 4 as a drill helper in Forksville, PA, Sullivan County.
Chad loved the outdoors, hunting, 4 wheelers, motorcycles and snowmobiles.
He had attended Hammondsport Central School then was home schooled. He
worked for the Corning Leader prior to his current job with F.T. Seismic
Support. He always enjoyed his time with his nephew and the family gatherings.
He would work on cars with his Dad and learned several things about cars
this way. His smile will always be remembered by many as he could
brighten a room. He is survived by his father Richard Jacquier and Debbra
Predmore, mother Julia Rosekrans, two sisters, Jessica Jacquier (Tommy
Hann) and Nichole Jacquier; grandparents, Donald (Joyce) Jacquier and Richard
(Nancy) Rosekrans, nephew Gavyn Buck, girlfriend Cassandra Kester and several

Chad R. Jacquier, 18, of Avoca, N.Y. was driving a 2000 Buick LeSabre toward Forksville Borough when state police in Laporte said he crashed the car on Route 87, Forks Township. Sullivan County Coroner Wendy Hastings pronounced Jacquier, who was not wearing a seatbelt, dead at the scene. Police said his vehicle struck a guide wire supporting a utility pole near Lambert Hill Road. Traveling over the guide wire, police said Jacquier was in the car when it traveled down an embankment and struck a tree at 5:35 a.m. State police were called to another fatal crash at 9:35 a.m. when an unidentified man crashed a dump truck in northern Gamble Township, a few miles northeast of Rose Valley Lake. Emergency dispatchers called for help on Wallis Run Road, where witnesses reported the rolled-over truck was in flames. It is believed the man was killed when the southbound truck left Logue Hill Road for unknown reasons and rolled through roadside brush. surrounded by her loved ones. Born Sept. 24, 1916, in South Williamsport,
Pa., she was a daughter of Lloyd Baker and Ethel Ellen (Bishop) Kahler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Santalucia; children,
Paula (Charles) Schmucker, Edward (Pat) Vining, Tony (Cathy) Santalucia;
and an infant daughter; sisters, Mabel (James) Harshbarger, Shirley (Harold)
Smith, and Ruth and Betty Kahler, and five grandchildren. Surviving are
her children, Ethel "Carol" Bausinger of Nisbet, Nadeen Hauke of Williamsport,
Jean (Doug) Harner, Louis (Lois) Santalucia and Joyce Sunderland, all of

69 formerly of Addison, NY died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Clifton
Springs Hospital. Pat was born on November 21, 1940 in Indianapolis,
IN to Harry and Marie (Franco) Jones. She married William Fox in
1960 and was preceded in death by him in 1994. She was a graduate
of West Seattle High School. She was a member of the Addison Red
Hats, loved to crochet and sing, and was a former member of the Addison
Council of Churches. Pat loved spending time with her grandchildren
and many friends. She is survived by three daughters: Mary (Jodi Decker)
Fox of Waterloo, Nancy Boyer of Corning, and Leslie Amador of Lindley;
two sons, Nathaniel Fox of Corning and Clinton (Elizabeth) Fox of Waterloo;
two sisters, Hazel Amezcua of Daly City, CA, and Laura Jones of Daly City,

KEELER Isabelle F. (Keeler) Goettel
90, of Williamsport, formerly of Elmira St., died on Thursday, Oct.
14, 2010, at the Williamsport Home. Isabelle was born on June 28, 1920,
in Nordmont and was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Mary F. (Huffnagle)
Keeler. She had been a lifetime resident of Williamsport. She was a graduate
of Williamsport High School, class of 1939. Isabelle was employed by LL
Stearns prior to her marriage on June 28, 1942, to the late Carl Goettel.
After she was married, she became a dedicated homemaker. The couple was
married for 32 years before his death in 1974. She was a member of the
former St. John's UCC, where she had taught Sunday School for 15 years
and was a member of the Kuhn's Circle. After the church merged and became
New Covenant United Church of Christ, she was very active there and was
a member of the Congregational Concerns Committee. She was also a member
of the Williamsport YWCA and Ramblers Club. Isabelle is survived by two
sons and daughters- in-law, Carl and Mary Ann Goettel Jr. of Montoursville
and Larry L. and Joyce Goettel of East Falmouth, Mass.; one step-son, John
C. Goettel and his wife Mary Ellen of Danielson, Conn.; one step-daughter,
Shirley Hill and her husband Bill of South Williamsport; one grandson,
Christopher Goettel of East Falmouth, Mass.; and two sisters, Esther Louis
Crissman of Montoursville and Joan M. Keeler of Williamsport. In addition
to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers,
Harold and Charles Keeler. There will be a gathering of family and friends

age 77, of 15 Stanton Street, Painted Post, died
Friday, October
15th, at Corning Hospital peacefully surrounded by his family. George was
born July 18, 1933 in Corning, NY, son of the late George J. and Margaret
(Crowley) Ketchum. He married Theresa Hogan on February 8th, 1958 in Corning;
she survives him. George graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1953 and
entered the U.S. Army in 1954 and served until 1957. He was employed at
Corning Glass Works for over 59 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member
of St. Joseph's Church in Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Theresa;
three daughters, Dorothy (Ronald) Reed of Wake Forest, NC, Patricia (Scott)
Krebs of Swan Lake, NY, Margaret (Wayne) Dickerman of Corning, NY; and
three sons, George (Debra Carter) Ketchum Jr. of Rockville, MD, Richard
(Andrea) Ketchum of Painted Post, NY, Thomas (Kristen) Ketchum of Corning,
NY; sister, Beatrice Church of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Shannon, Aaron,

76, of Tioga, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, in Soldiers and Sailors
Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Mary was born on Feb. 11, 1934, in
Sayre, the daughter of Howard and Della (May) Knapp. Prior to her retirement,
Mary was employed as a cook for the Bush House and later the Twin Lakes
Restaurant. Mary enjoyed family and friends, loved cooking and spent many
years decorating cakes. She collected dolls and loved gardening, crafts
and sewing. Mary is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger

KORNUSKO Dr. Edward A. Kornuszko
of Hammondsport and Fort Lauderdale, age 87, died at home on October,
13, 2010. Dr. Kornuszko was born on April 1, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to Bronislaw
A. Kornuszko and Margaret A. Zawadzki Kornuszko. He had one older sister,
Mary. At age six, Edward began studies on the violin at the Julliard School.
In 1937, he gave his debut performance at Carnegie Hall. Dr. Kornuszko
went on to play and tour with many orchestral groups both nationally and
internationally. In 1940, Dr. Kornuszko graduated summa cum laude from
Boy's High School in Brooklyn, after which he enrolled in City College
in a course in pre-medicine and later transferred to St. Bonaventure University
in 1942. While classically trained on the violin, he possessed an innate
musical talent and also fluently played the tenor saxophone, piano, clarinet,
and vibraphone by ear. With the rise of jazz, Dr. Kornuszko went on to
play with Vincent Lopez, Betty Hutton, Sarah Vaughn, and other big bands.
His education was interrupted when he enlisted in the United States Army
in 1943. During the war, he was placed in Special Services where he entertained
troops giving classical concerts, and playing with the Glen Miller Orchestra
and Air Force Band. After the war, he continued his education at St. Bonaventure
and earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1948 followed by a master
of science degree, while working as a research analytical chemist at the
Sinclair Refining Company in Wellsville. Dr. Kornuszko earned his doctor
of dental surgery degree in 1959 from Marquette University. Dr. Kornuszko
established two dental practices, in Painted Post and Big Flats. He retired
in 1988 and continued to give concerts and play pinochle, his two favorite
pass times. Dr. Kornuszko was a patron of Polish art and culture. He was
staunchly anti-communist and aided many Poles, visiting the United States,
in fleeing totalitarian oppression and seeking asylum during the Cold War
years. Dr. Kornuszko was dedicated to the preservation of sacred Catholic
tradition and the restoration of the Latin Tridentine Mass. He was an ardent
supporter of music and benefactor of musical endeavors. Dr. Kornuszko is
survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Loretta A. Rinke Kornuszko of
Hammondsport and Ft. Lauderdale, daughter, Margaret A. Kornuszko Story
of Bethlehem, PA, son, Dr. Edward V. Kornuszko of Boston, and two grandchildren,
Keaton Story and Annabella Story. Calling hours are Saturday, October 16,
2010, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at LaMarche Funeral Home in Hammondsport with
rosary at 5:30 PM. A Requiem Mass will be sung at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October

KRIMM C. Elwood Krimm
94, formerly of Willow St., Montoursville, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010,
at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing, where he had resided for two months. Elwood
retired in 1978 after 31 years with Textron and had his own landscaping
business prior to working at Textron. He was a member of First Baptist
Church, one of the founders of the Avco Credit Union, and had served as
a steward for Local 787. Born Jan. 23, 1916, in Williamsport, he was the
son of Charles B. and Helen M. Lape Krimm. Surviving are a son, Ronald
E. of Katy, Texas; a daughter, Ann Louise Breining of Monroe, Conn.; grandchildren,
Susan (Hal) Oven of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Scott (Brenda Jo) Breining of
Winston-Salem, N.C. and Heather Krimm; and several nieces and nephews.
Elwood was predeceased by his wife, the former Ursula N. Wright, and siblings,
Dr. George Krimm and Mary Theresa Withey. Graveside services will be at
2 p.m. Thursday at Montoursville Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Manzinger

Cameron, N.Y. — Lois L. Mattison, age 68, of Cameron, NY died Friday,
October 15, 2010 at home. She was born October 19, 1941 in Lebanon,
PA the daughter of Arthur Jr. and Susie Jeffers Lehman. She was a
loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived
by her husband, James Mattison of Cameron, NY, daughter, Helen Sue Gardner
of Cameron, NY, son James (Michelle) Mattison of Lindley, NY, six grandchildren,
nine great grandchildren; four sisters, Regina Hoyt of Elkland, PA, Lorraine

67, of 608 Broad St., Montoursville, went peacefully to the Lord on
Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at the Williamsport Hospital. Born Nov. 24, 1942,
in Williamsport, she was the daughter of James W. and Ethel E. Harkins
Greaves Lewis. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed
her football on the TV, her Yankees, hunting, fishing, spending time with
others, and sitting along the water. She had worked at the former Glamorise,
the former Carey McFalls, left as a supervisor at Frito Lay, and also took
care of special care children. Surviving are her friend and longtime roommate,
Mary Blee; her sister, Della (Chuck) Wacker of Montoursville; her brothers,
Robert Lewis of Montoursville, Raymond (Patti) Lewis of Cogan Station,
Donald (Kathy) Lewis of Lairdsville; many nieces and nephews, great nieces
and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her brother, Arthur Lewis, and by her sister, Irene Bliss. A graveside

79, of Charles St., South Williamsport, went to be with her Lord on
Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010. Born September 29, 1931, in Williamsport, she
was a daughter of the late Prosper and Leona (Hunsinger) Maneval. She was
a 1949 graduate of South Williamsport High School. Doris was employed by
Anchor/Darling Valve Co. for 28 years before her retirement in June 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Doreen J. (David) Frey of Williamsport and
Debra A. (Dwight) Turner of Muncy; and a son, Darryl F. (Vicki) Dieffenderfer
of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Johnson of Montoursville,
Marcella (Merle) Hill of Jersey Shore, and Terry Carpenter of Linden; eight

died
Oct. 5, 2010 at the age of 71. The daughter of Clarence
and Helen Martz, she is survived by brother Wilbur Martz and sister Betty
Marshall. She married Ronald Thompson, who preceded her in death. Ruth
is survived by two daughters, Blythe Thompson Burchanowski and Tam Thompson
Steckel, and is preceded by daughter Laurie Thompson Burchanowski. She
had 14 grandchildren. For well over 30 years, Ruth was the librarian at
the Loyalsock Valley Elementary School. She loved her job working with
the children, people and books. Following Ruth's wishes there will be no

McDONALD Catherine "Kitty" Teresa Maximiak
74, of Lopez, Pa., died
at her home on Sunday morning, Oct.
17, 2010. Kitty was born on Aug. 5, 1936, a daughter of the late Leo Francis
and Ella Mae Mergo McDonald in Lopez. She graduated from the Turnpike High
School. Catherine married the late Steve Maximiak on January 28, 1956 in
Newark N.J., who preceded her in death in 1999. Kitty worked for the Robert
Wood Johnson Medical School as an accountant until her retirement in 1998
after 25 years of service. She loved going to casinos with her friends.
She loved bingo and working Lopez Old Home Days. She was loyal to her family
and friends, enjoyed doting on her five grandchildren and extended grand-nieces
and nephews. Kitty reveled in her Irish heritage, often recalling her trip
to Ireland with her fellow 'Golden Girl' Bernadette Bavoso. Kitty enjoyed
many trips and conversations with her Red Hat Gals, most especially with
Dotty Sick and Catherine McMahon. She loved volunteering for many organizations,
including the Dushore Loan Closet, bake sales for Founders Days, and various
activities for her beloved village of Lopez. Kitty will always be renowned
for her love of a good cup of coffee and a Dunkin Donut and is the unofficial
Queen of Donuts of Sullivan County. She continued to practice yoga on a
regular basis up until her passing. Kitty loved life and never gave up
will to live despite her disease. She loved all holidays most especially
Christmas and was 'Mrs. Claus' to her family. She loved baking cookies
and sharing them with the community. She enjoyed making pierogies with
St. Vladimir's members sharing time with her sister-in-law Mitch Maximiek.
Kitty was devoted to 'checking in' with the sick and elderly and offering
a cheery thought. She cherished every memento given to her and recalled
every memory attached to them. Kitty will be remembered for her continuous
smile, positive attitude, love of life and devout faith. She will be sadly
missed at many community events and family gatherings but her spirit will
undoubtedly be present forever. Kitty's memberships included: St, Francis
of Assisi Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary parish, and its Altar and Rosary
Society, the Lopez Civic Club, Sullivan Co. Republican Club, founder and
queen mother of the Turnpike Gals Red Hat Society. She was a Girl Scout
Leader for many years in Plainfield N.J., and a dedicated worker for St.
Francis Bingo and the Ladies Auxiliary of the McDermitt Post No. 452 American
Legion. Catherine is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Mary and
(Julio) Santiago of Troy, Pa., and Helen (Bruce) Amon of Barnhart Mo.;

She married Arthur Johnson in 1946 and was preceded in death by him in

MESSNER Bernadine (Bernie) Brown
91, of Spruce St., Jersey Shore, Pa., died on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010,
at Manor Care, Jersey Shore, where she had been a guest for two weeks.
She was born July 22, 1919, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mrytle
McCaslin Messner and step-daughter of Esther Messner Goodman. She was married
to the late H. Eugene Brown for over sixty years and he died
Sept.
10, 1999. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over
70 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 25 years, youth leader
for many years and was commissioned Lay Visitor of her church. She enjoyed
visiting shut-ins and also the guests at Manor Care. She belonged to the
Women's Missionary Society, and was Historian of the Church at one time.
Her church meant so much to her. She belonged to 50+ Club and was a member
of the Kings Daughters Class. She was also a member of the Order of Amaranth.
She also attended Oval United Methodist Church. During World War II she
worked at Sylvania in Williamsport, Pa. She worked at the Jersey Shore
Hospital as a nurse for 25 years from where she retired in 1984. She was
a member of the Jersey Shore Hospital Retirees and worked at the bloodmobile.
She enjoyed traveling, sports (especially attending the children's activities),
and entertaining her friends. Her life was devoted to her family and friends
and doing for others. Surviving is a daughter, Sandy Moyer (son-in-law,
Richard L. Moyer) of Jersey Shore; two grandsons, Richard E. Moyer and
Michael (Wendy) Moyer, all of Jersey Shore; great granddaughters, Malin
and Kallie; nephew, Kevin L. Richards (Colette) of Jersey Shore; and six
great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two step-sisters, Kay

58, of 1329 Huling Road, Linden, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, in his
sleep at home. Bob's wife, the former Linda A. Seaman, died Dec. 27, 2003.
Bob was self-employed as a general contractor; he owned and operated Home
Handy Man Services. He enjoyed hunting, model building and spending time
with his family. Born Nov. 5, 1951, in Williamsport, he was the son
of Robert L. and Shirley A. Fullerton Miller. Surviving in addition to
his mother of Linden are sons, Shane J. (Amy) and Travis J., both of Williamsport,

Age 93, died at her daughter's home on Wednesday, October 13, 2010.
Ethel was born January 27, 1917, the daughter of Francis and Georgianna
(English) Paddock. She is predeceased by her husband John F. Furey, Jr.,
sisters-in-law, Clara Z. Paddock, Sylvania Miller, Dr. Mary Z. Furey, brother-in-law
Dr. Dewitt T. Baker, nephew Ted Baker, and grandson-in-law Daniel P. Emanuel.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Susan E. Furey of Geneva, NY, Evelyn
F. Furey, with Michael Fieno, of Elmira; grandchildren, Angella C. Emanuel,
Jessica L. (Travis) Moreno, Samuel A. Furey Goodman, Michael P. Furey Goodman;
great-grandchildren, Nicholas J. and Francesca J. Moreno; brother George
C. Paddock of Bath; sister-in-law Yvonne Baker of East Corning; former
son-in-law and good friend John Gordon Burroughs; along with several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a multitude of good
friends. Active in local clubs, Ethel and her husband John were members

and Elmira Eagle's Club. She was also a former member and treasurer of
the Order of the Eastern Star. Ethel was an avid watcher of soap operas,
loved the NY Yankees, loved music and singing but above all she loved her

and of late had attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Geneva, NY. Ethel
was an incredibly sweet person who had a beautiful smile for everyone,

is survived by his wife, the former Mary C. Morabito, they were united
in marriage Sept. 29, 1960 in Our Lady Help of Christian Church in Buffalo,
N.Y. He was retired from Piper Aircraft after many years of service. For
many years, he was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Church of Saint
Luke in Jersey Shore. Francis served his country in the United States Army
during the Korean War abd was a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather.
Also surviving is a son, Dr. John F. (Laurie) Pagnotto, of State College;
a daughter, Kathyrn M. (Timothy) Fitch, of Perkasie, Pa; four grandchildren,
Christa, Michael, Amber and Eryn; one brother, Donald Pagnotto, of Renovo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in
the Church of Saint Luke, 120 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore. Father Bert Kozen

2010, at her home. She was born June 7, 1934, in East Pittsburgh, a daughter
of William H. and Anna May Heverly Pfeiffer. Gail was a member of St. Mark's
Lutheran Church in Williamsport. She is survived by her husband, John E.,
with whom she was married 53 years; children, Susan Espy, Sharon Land,
Eric Hoffman and Laurie Way; her sister, Velda Currie; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service and inurnment in the columbarium at St. Mark's Lutheran

Age 98, formerly of Portsmouth, NH, went home to be with the Lord on

Post, NY died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers.
Marilyn was born in Dansville, NY on October 5, 1925, the daughter of Charles
and Ruth (Lowrey) Potter. She married Frank Watts in 1950 and was
preceded in death by him in 2009. She had been a teacher in the Corning
– Painted Post School District for over 16 years. Marilyn was an
active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Painted Post for many
years. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Patrick) McNaughton of
Columbia, MD; brother, C. Stanley (Ann) Potter of Concord, CA; and her
granddaughter, Megan McNaughton. A Service of Celebration will be held

63, of Vallamont Drive NW, Williamsport, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010,
at his home. Born Feb. 17, 1947, in Williamsport, he was the son of the
late Thomas and Annabelle (Reidy) Redmond. Patrick was a 1964 graduate
of Williamsport High School and a 1969 graduate of Villanova University.
He was assistant manager to his father at Redmond's Funeral Home for 15
years. He retired after 16 years at Susquehanna Bank. He was an avid
bowler and a ring recipient of 299 and 300 games. Patrick was an active
member and usher at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church.
Surviving are a brother, Thomas F. Redmond III of S.C.; and three sisters,
Susan Redmond of S.C., Elizabeth Redmond of Fla., and Ellen Storms of Macungie,
Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph
the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at
the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Born December 5, 1920, in Hughesville,
she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Rider and grew up on a
farm. On June 21, 1941, she married the late Charles W. Weaver. Delphene
retired from the former GTE Sylvania, Muncy, in 1983, after having worked
there for 30 years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and
the Ladies Auxiliary. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
and great-great-grandmother, she is survived by a son, Elwood L. Weaver
and his wife, Vivian, of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Patricia A. Benoit
and her husband, Daniel, of Hughesville; seven grandchildren, Kimberly
(Ronald) Stone of Minneapolis, Minn., Pamela (Frank) Garaas of Grenora,
N.D., Paula (Fredrick) Biichle of Hughesville, Kathryn (Gerry) Wilson of

73, of Williamsport, died
Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. Esther was
born Jan. 25, 1937, in Jersey Shore to A. Wilson Rodgers and the former
Esther Yeager. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary R.
Guthrie and Margaret R. Rohrbach. Esther was married on Aug. 28, 1981,
to Marvin T. Hudson Jr. They shared a love of family and especially enjoyed
watching their grandchildren in their sporting events and other activities.
She was an avid reader and a well-known regular at the James V. Brown Library.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1954 graduate of the Jersey
Shore High School. Esther was employed by Piper Aircraft, but later spent
22 years in service to the Pennsylvania State Education Association, retiring
in 1995. For many years, she was a member of the PSEA-ARE and the Ivanhoe
Chapter No. 28 Order of Eastern Star. Esther is survived by her loving
and devoted husband, Marvin T. Hudson Jr.; two daughters, Cyndie (Mark)
Jones of Ballwin, Mo., and Julie (Mark) Marzzacco of South Williamsport;
one son, David L. Packard of Alpharetta, Ga.; stepdaughters, Kathy (Gene)
Ray of Williamsport and Barb (Terry) Laudenslager of Williamsport; her
grandchildren, Ashley, Mark and Matthew Marzzacco, Meredith, Alison and
Andrew Jones, Cara and Sydney Ray, Drew (Dusty) and Kurt Laudenslager,

NY, peacefully died
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the VA Medical
Center in Bath, NY. Thomas was born on September 14, 1946 in Corning, NY,
the son of the late Lloyd A. and Margaret I. (Barber) Ruggles. Tom proudly
served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received
several medals. He graduated from West High School in 1966 and married
the love of his life, on February 3, 1967. He was employed as a machinist
at Shepard Niles until he retired in May of 2002. He enjoyed hunting and
fishing with his son Tom Jr. He took great pride in the family’s cottage
in Lamoka Lake where he loved spending time with his family. He was an
avid NY Yankee and Giant’s fan. He’s predeceased by a brother Frank A.
Ruggles, sisters Gail Abbey and Elaine Radka, brother-in-laws Edward (Skip)
Simpson and Walt Davis and his niece Penny Kapral. He’s survived by his
wife Dale E. Ruggles of South Bradford, NY, two sons Frank Ruggles of South

of 120 Cayuga Street, Trumansburg, New York, died
on Friday,
October 15, 2010. After years of an extended illness, Barbara, a beautiful
wife, loving daughter, caring mother and splendid friend can finally breathe
again. Barb was born in Elmira, New York on July 5, 1946. She graduated
from
VanEtten Central Schools in 1964 and went to SUNY Cortland. Barbara then
attended Arnot Ogden Hospital School of Radiology and graduated in 1971.
She worked for the Tompkins County Hospital for 26 years and retired as
the head of the Radiology and C.A.T. Department. Barb married her loving
husband, Donald Cole in 1978, making their home in Trumansburg where they
raised their two daughters, Sarah and Alison. Barb enjoyed camping and
going to rummage sales, finding it hard to ever pass one by. She loved
Christmas and Halloween, which she always spent with her family and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her father, Frederick W. Scaife, and father-in-law,
Merton Cole. She is survived by her husband, Donald Cole of Trumansburg;
two daughters, Sarah and Alison; her mother, Mildred Scaife of Horseheads;
two sisters, Maureen (Harmon) Grover of Lockwood and Judith (Herman) Brown
of Horseheads; a brother, Frederick (Donna) Scaife of Spencer; mother-in-law
Jen Cole of Florida; brother-in-law, David (Barb) Cole of Elmira; sister-in-law,

SPECCHIO Julia Specchio Smith
of Montour Falls, NY died
on October 19, 2010 with her family
by her side. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Philip
C. Smith; and her three children, Deborah (John) Betz, Maureen (Moe and
Tick) Colunio, and Philip (Phil Joe and Jamie) Smith. Judy's eight grandchildren
were the joy of her life: Kyle, Neil, Brian, Breana, Justin, Megan, Jessica
and Philip. She also had one great-grandson, Tyler; and her great-granddaughter
and namesake, Julian. Judy was born in Watkins Glen on September 13, 1929,
loving daughter of Lawrence and Mary Chiacchierini Specchio. Her brothers,
Theodore (Barbara) and Lewis Specchio, will miss her so much and she was
predeceased in death by her parents; her sister, Carol Symes; and her sister-in-law,
Eloise. Judy and Phil lived in Montour Falls where they owned and operated
the family business, Smith's IGA, until the store was destroyed by fire
in 1991. She was a sharp businesswoman and worked tirelessly in the store,
doing the books, running the cash register and encouraging many of the
young new employees. She so enjoyed working in the store because it gave
her the opportunity to meet people and talk with everyone. Many friendships
began there and lasted throughout the years. Judy dedicated her life to
her family and friends. She was an avid golfer and was one of the original
members of the Watkins Glen Golf Course, played several bridge clubs and
was a member of the Wayne American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved cooking
and entertaining guests and ruled her home with an "open door" policy.
Many summers were spent at 4400 Argetsinger Road on Seneca Lake when the
kids were growing up. There at the cottage she enjoyed many happy hours
loving life and entertaining friends. Judy was a dear friend, devoted wife,
mother, grandmother and sister. She will be forever remembered in the hearts
of all who loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the

Sept. 15, 1937, a daughter of the late Lewis Clifford Tice and Julia Louise
Comfort Tice. Winifred attended SRU High School and later married Bruce
C. Krauss on Dec. 31, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Wellsburg,
N.Y. Winifred was supportive of her husband while he served in the U.S.
Navy for 20 years. She served as a volunteer at the Robert Packer Hospital
in Sayre for 15 years. Surviving are: her husband, Bruce C. Krauss at home;
daughters and sons-in-law: Vanessa L. Emeno and Brad Emeno of Moravia,

Age 73, of Co. Rt. 17, Watkins Glen, died
unexpectedly on Thursday,
October 14, 2010. The family will receive friends and relatives at the
Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen, on Tuesday (Oct.
19th) from 6-8pm; with a funeral service immediately following at 8:00pm:
Rev. Jeanne Bleiler officiating. A committal service with military honors
will be held Thursday (Oct. 21st) at 2:00 pm at Pleasant View Cemetery,
Reading Center, N.Y. In 1960 Bob had the distinction of being the first
male to graduate from the Robert Packer School of Nursing in Sayre, PA.
He later became a Nursing Instructor there before joining the U.S. Air
Force. While stationed in Japan he was a member of the traveling Dialysis
Team. In Vietnam he served with the 903rd AMES as a flight nurse and was
a TET Offensive survivor. Bob retired from Schuyler Hospital as a Nursing
Supervisor. He was a private pilot and a former member of the Dundee Flying
Club. He was also a member of the VFW Post 7624 of Watkins Glen, NY. Bob
enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish, bow hunt, ski, scuba dive, sail
his Hobie Cats and ride his motorcycle. He is survived by his wife of 30
years, Mary Ann (Packer) Webster; also a daughter, Laura Spearman Marcy
of Newfield; step-children, Diane A. Cooper (Bruce) of Watkins Glen; Gordon
D. (Jill) Cooper of Los Gatos, CA, and Nancy J. Cooper (Ray), of Lake Harmony,
PA; brother, Vernon (Marion) Webster of Rock Stream; sister-in-law, Anita
Webster of Springfield, NE; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by his parents, Welles and Martha (Smith) Webster; brother, Donald J. Webster;
and sister, Lucille (Webster) Huff. Memorials in his memory may be made
to Schuyler County Ambulance, PO Box 2, Watkins Glen, NY 14891; or a charity

ZERBE G. Maxine Seiffert
84, of Washington Ave., Jersey Shore, died
Saturday, Oct. 16,
2010, at Manor Care. She was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Jersey Shore, the daughter
of Oliver H. and Elizabeth Snyder Zerbe. Maxine was the wife of the late
Arthur R. Seiffert with whom she shared 56 years of marriage prior to his
passing in 2004. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. Maxine
retired from Thompson's Meat Packing Plant after over 17 years of service.
She was a former life member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Maxine liked
doing crosswords, puzzles, word finds and reading. She is survived by a
daughter, Candy (Bill) O'Connor of Hughesville; two sons, Jeff (Marcia)
of Pittsburgh and Paul of Jersey Shore; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren;
three sisters-in-law, Jane Zerbe of Hershey, Gertrude Lanni, of N.J. and
Barbara Seiffert of Mass. Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Arthur
and two brothers, John and Paul Zerbe. Family suggests memorial contributions
can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre,
PA 18701. Relatives and friends are invited to Maxine's Life Celebration
service 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral
Home Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore
with Rev. Kerry R. Aucker officiating. A visitation will be from
10 until 11 a.m. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. - Williamsport
